  3. Shell Optimax

    ZR-7 Maintenance
Ther was an article (may be a letter to the editor?) in the Two Wheels mag recently about Shell Optimax. I think it had something to do with fouling sparkplugs.
  4. Tankbag bargain of the year (Oz only)

    ZR-7 Accessories
The trick with the tank bag is to make sure you regularly clean the tank because, as previously stated, they can scratch the paint if there is any dust/grit between the bag and the paint. I had a tank bag and a gearsack on my GPz900 when we rode down to Tasmania a couple of years ago. I put...
  5. Synthetic Oil

    ZR-7 Maintenance
Re: Mobil Extra 4T semi synthetic motorcycle oil I still find the box 'clunks' in first with Motul 5100. It is always better after an oil change though.
  6. Synthetic Oil

    ZR-7 Maintenance
Hi, I live in a sub-tropical climate and have been using Motul 5100T 15W50 in the bike since the 6,000km service without any problems. This oil costs about $48 AU for a container.
  7. Had my valves done.

    ZR-7 Maintenance
Hi Graeme, Yes, I had the bike serviced at the shop because it's still under warranty until the end of the month. The shop was Whales Motorcycle World at Slacks Creek, which is where I bought the bike. I did ask for shim sizes / clearances, which they have provided me with. They didn't give me...
  8. Had my valves done.

    ZR-7 Maintenance
12,000 km service Well, I just got my bike back from the 12,000 km service and I must say that the valves are tappy. I read somewhere else that tappy valves are happy valves, so I hope that's right! I was really dissapointed with the job because they charged me $50 for 3.6l of oil (Motul 5100)...
  9. NGK Iridium spark plugs

    ZR-7 Maintenance
My Toyota RAV4 uses iridium spark plugs. They cost about $100 AUD for 4 and are not replaced until the 100,000 km service. But then this uses a direct-connection set-up without high tension leads. Each plug is covered by a boot which houses a coil and electronics ignition module. Still $100...

There is actually a software program that someone put together to help you work out the effect of changing sprockets, but I can't remember where it is. Maybe on the ZR7.com pages?
  13. IGNITION ADVANCE "Test Ride"

    ZR-7 Performance Upgrades
Is that a pic of the ZX6r part? Why do the notches look so diferent to the Factory one?
  14. IGNITION ADVANCE "Test Ride"

    ZR-7 Performance Upgrades
Thanks for that Fade. Great pic too. The shops over here are more likely to stock that ZX6R part than the ZR-7 part.
  15. IGNITION ADVANCE "Test Ride"

    ZR-7 Performance Upgrades
Thanks, Yes, I saw the pics that Jarel took. I was hoping to get a better look / more details to see how hard it would be to modify the original part or have one fabricated locally - shipping costs to Australia are robbery. Can anyone confirm that the part is the same as used on the Zephyr 750...
  16. IGNITION ADVANCE "Test Ride"

Can someone post a picture of the advanced ignition rotor next to the OEM rotor and describe what the diferences are? Please???
  17. Ducati Monster Headlight fairing

    ZR-7 Accessories
The Givi A755 is similar to the Ducati ones at http://www.givi.it under 'products', 'screens and spoilers' then 'airstars'.
  18. Ducati Monster Headlight fairing

    ZR-7 Accessories
If the headlights on the Ducati and the ZR-7 are the same diameter then I can't see why not. Some of these after market manufacturer's make the Ducati style to fit different size headlights as well. Good luck, I think it would look nice on the ZR-7.

  20. Re-Packing Exhaust?

    ZR-7 Maintenance
Not all manufaturer's use the fibreglass packing. I had a set of Formula 1 can's on my GPz900R and they used stainless steel packing (looked similar to pot scourers!). The manufacturer didn't say anything about re-packing but I guess stainless steel isn't going to disintergrate like fibreglass.
