Just picked up a virtually new 2014

Hi All! I just picked up may first bike. It's a 2014 300SE. It's got 200 miles on the odometer and the previous owner owned it just 6 months. It's got a few scratches on the faring from it being layed down. Only cosmetic damage and the bike is virtually new. I'm slowly getting accustomed to the bike by riding it around 20-30 minutes every day or so.

    Congratulations!

I love the look of the SE.

If you haven't already, please take the MSF class before you learn bad habits.

Some really good reading that may help save your life by getting you thinking about hazards before you encounter them are "Street Strategies" and "Proficient Motorcycling" by David Hough.

Also, hope you bought some gear. See those scratches on the bike? That is what your skin will look like as well.

Post up some photos when you get a chance. We like to see photos.
Skill is what keeps you on two wheels.

Situational awareness combined with skill is what keeps you out of harm's way.

ATGATT combined with Situational Awareness and Skill means you might live to ride another day when that deer runs into your bike or that drunk blows through that stop sign.

Sounds like a nice bike. It goes without saying, of course you've already taken MSF and have protective gear. What a shame about the previous owner. Sounds like they started out, quickly laid it down and gave up on motorcycling. But their loss is your benefit.
