I bet it can be made to fit. But it will be a few years till you see some smashed up Verseys where you can get the assembly for a reasonable price, IMHO.

Interestingly the Verseys has 10.3 to 1 compression, where as the Ninja has 11.8 to 1. A point and a half is stupid huge.

I want to bump my Ninja 1.2 points over stock...lol

Jay, I'll bet you can do the compression raising..I remember workign with the honda crf 450's that the compression was one part of the story, but cam shape, and duration played a role too in cylinder pressure and avoiding detonation.

As you said, its probably $$$$ until some used parts come on to the market. I think the ninja is owned by older folks who dont crash much. So far we've not seen much in used parts. The Versys will be worse.

OK, so back to a search....2015 Versys clutch Looks like a few parts are shared with us.

I could be wrong, but I think you guys are talking about different things. I believe Chrispy is talking about the gear stuck to the back of the clutch basket itself, and I believe you are talking about the transmission/overall gearing for the bike.

RC I am confused by your search results. It looks like two different searches for the same part? The clutch basket?

That the clutch basket is the same is awesome. That will make a retro fit cheaper, and means the answer to Chrispy's question is a tentative yes, the primary is the same.

From looking at the Microfiche that RC provided, it looks like the slipper is operated by the inner hub and pressure plate. That would look to be a reasonably simple swap.

The question would be how well does it actually work.

That search was confusing to me. Its not finished, obviously, but if someone else wants to take over...

It was nice to see a few shared parts. I'm thinking it could be possible. I was excited when the expensive part, the 430.00 one, was shared between our bikes.

That would be the gear we were concerned with.

1000$ for an aftermarket slipper clutch is way too much, but if we can do this for few hundreds by swapping parts with the Versys, I might be in

Looks like the deal is $400 to $500 on top of a clutch change (the only reasonable time to do it in my own opinion). Thats still pretty pricey. IMHO.

Looks to me like the inner hub and the pressure plate, along with the springs and plate that is near the springs.

Thats my opinion, but I would really need to have one of each in my hands to look at it.

I have done something similar before. I put a slipper out of an 06 G1k into my buddies 04 G1k.

As far as clutch plates, i bet the ones from the ninja would work. I would be certain the friction plates would work, and have reasonable confidence that the steels would work as well. But again I think this mod makes the most sense when it time to replace the clutch anyway.

Levesl, thanks for digging in like that. Its a pain in the ***.

Interesting search for part number 13089-0023. It comes up as being for the zx6r. (plates)

13089-1084 shows fitting the zx6, zx9, our bikes and others... (plates again)

Could it be this slipper really is not that special, and just might be from the zx6/zx10?

The 14032-0590 is the outer cover and 190.00. This often shows up as fitting the 2014 z1000. It might just be a paint only change since that bike has no slipper.

I'm thinking levesl list is correct, but we might be able to delete a few high dollar items, or re use some of what we have. Even if we cut 190 bucks from the outer cover, thats a big deal.

I just ordered the parts I thought I would need to do it. It was $365 and change. Should be here in a couple weeks. I will try and do a how-to when the parts come in, as well as an actual parts list.

Hopefully none of the parts are on back order.
