If that r1 model is correct, it's very good and a step up from the others

The newer one would be better, the brembo marked one, but what the heck. Try what you have, and upgrade if needed.

BTW, I did adjust my rear brake pedal as described in the manual (provided by our friendly Canadian contributor Obo) last night, after "winterizing" the bike incase the the riding season's done. (3oz. of stabilizer + 100:1 mixture of 2 stroke oil, clean and wax, chain lube, decrease tire pressure with wood under front tire on center stand, install battery tender pigtail on battery) I ended up taking out approx. 5/16" of travel, and I'll see how well that "feels" when/if weather permits this season. (high about 30degrees with snow flurries YUK!)

Well I have just bought a R1 master cylinder off ebay. Cost me £40($60).
It was minus the lever, so have also ordered some levers the same as I have now

I've got to ask, why the 2 stroke oil?

It puts a very, very slight coat of oil inside the gas tank, the cylinders, etc., and it'll prevent the Viton (rubber) needles from drying out, and prevents sticking needle and seat, should the carbs ever go dry from sitting and/or draining for storage.

yup its as old as "fogging" with lots of different types of oil typicly with trans fluid

fogging is typicly pouring in said fluid down the aircleaner/carbs till the engine dies at idle..makeing for a VERY good coating of the internals for LONG term storage

R1 Master cylinder came today, so very fast postage from them.
Looks in good condition, didn't need to order the levers, as the aftermarket ones I have fit.
Oh well have a spare set now.
test fitted this lever I had and it fitted perfect

Are you going to tear it down to inspect or rebuild it or just swap and see how it feels?

Think I'll put some fluid in to see if any dirt in it. but it looks clean enough.
I will then just put it on and see

First try HH compound brake pads, and Teflon cored braided stainless steel covered brake lines. Also bleed you're brakes and get totally new fluid that is contaminate free and go from there. I have changed front brake master cylinder switches for increased "power" too with good results.
