CHOKE SPEED ADJUSTMENT?
I'm new to posting on the site, but read and learned alot about my new scooter here. I recently did the "Ivans rejet" along with air-box mod and EGR delete and my bike runs GREAT! There's no hesitation, runs strong thru RPMs, idles wonderful after warmed up but...noticed that now when I first start it, even tho I use the choke it doesn't seem to want to "high-idle". The lever is pulling the plunger and it will richen up the mixture to the point of killing it, but I can not get it to increase the RPMs. Is there a "step up" or something that moves the throttle up in conjunction with the choke? Did I mess something up when re-assembling/re-installing the carbs? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Funnily enough mine did the same thing after I removed the EGR (or whatever it is) and I didn't even touch the carbs. I took apart the carbs and cleaned and my choke returned to normal operation.
There is no step up. The choke simply makes your mixture richer, it doesn't 'choke' in the traditional sense. Another possibility is now that you have the jet kit in you may be running too rich. Did you change the pilot screw? What turns out from fully seated are you?

I ended up turning out the mixture screw about 2-3/4. Seems to run/idle best there. maybe I'll try turning them in to 2 and see if that makes any difference? It isn't a big deal now cause the weather has been HOT...75 in the mornings and 95 during the day, but we'll see in the fall when it's not so warm. Just thought it was strange.

Update. I moved the vent-tube between carb #1 and carb #2 and it started working. I noticed the vent-tube was more forward than otherside was. May have moved/cracked plastic fitting for vent-tube when carbs were upside down installing jets, and been interfering with operation somehow. Working fine now tho. Is a cracked vent-tube fitting anything to worry about? Since it isn't hooked to anything, I assume it just vents carb bowls.

Yes, it just vents the carb bowls

Strange tho...must have been interfering with it (choke) somehow? I'll check it out this winter when I can. Next project is 17 tooth sprocket to bring down the RPMs at hiway speed (75mph) and put some new blue anodized levers on when they get here. Changing brake/clutch levers pretty easy? (never done adjustables before) Is there a post on the site that shows what procedure is by chance? Anyone?

Changing lever very easy. For brake lever simply undo pivot bolt and remove lever, reverse for install. For clutch lever, remove clutch cable by aligning the groove in the adjuster, undo pivot bolt, remove lever, reverse for install and set correct clutch free play.

No, it's a 76 Yamaha DT100 I rebuilt/fixed up to buzz around the neighborhood over the winter. I found an old 70's pedalcar body and decided to fabricate a sidecar rig to haul my 5yr old grandson with. We putt it to the park and corner store for ice cream when he comes over for the weekends. Works good to throw a bag of groceries in also.
