    Starting problems :(

hello once again fellow riders, I'm back!
I finally replaced my crankshaft and put the bike altogether. I tried starting it up this morning and nothing
i made sure everything was back in place, the bike cranks but won't start, theres smoke coming out from the exhaust, and spark in all the plugs.
i noticed that #1 and #4 cylinder headers were hot compared to the #2 and 3.
So im guessing that my carbs are clogged and need some good cleaning.
    Any feedback is greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Cesar

blow the carbs out really well and try again..hell if your up for it you can try bottle feeding the bike to make sure it is carb related..pour a lil gas into teh 2 taht arnt firing and see if she lights...she wont run but for a few moments but its enuf to verify that its entirely carb related

however..where any bike is concerned carbs are almost always the first thin in need of cleaning

I'm just glad that when I bought my bike, all the carbs had already been cleaned and synchronized.
The only starting problems I've had s o far can be attributed to the following:
    a) weak battery ( you'll hear weak cranking or a series of clicks or buzz)
    b) bad starter ( a loud single click )

Do you think it might be bad fuel?

first off my apologies for posting in the wrong section guys i will repost in the right place.
and @Bike Tech AZ i checked both plugs for spark and I'm sure they work. COuld the gas be bad since the bike was sitting since december and the tank was almost full?....
Also, i took apart and cleaned up the carburetor; however the problem persists.

Did you treat the gas before you let it sit? Running old, untreated gas through cleaned carbs will just plug them up again....

just cause the spark "looks" good doesnt mean it is..imo change out the plugs and check how they look across the board IE compare 1 and 2 to eachother as well as 3 and 4 to eachother....if 2 and 3 look weak you got coil or wire issues

the fact that only the center pair of carbs are acting up is odd...tho..it could be as simple as a small bit of something stuck in a jet

and FWIW e10 fuel(pretty well standard everywhere) started to destabilize in a couple months and cause hell..........so if its going to be stored empty the whole thing or go fill up with ethenol free fuel

heres a simple test....get carb cleaner and spay #2-3 while crankin the motor...if its a fuel issue...the bike will start and hit on all 4 when sprayn the carb cleaner....if its a spark issue...the spray will make no differance while crankin

I changed the fuel, air blew the carbs, and even switched the coils and still same issue. So it definitely isn't a fuel or coil related problem. I also checked for spark in all cylinders. any more suggestions?

yes if it wont start but smoke is coming out the pipes try putting 1 and 4 plug wires on 2 and 3 and switch the other 2 as well. if that does not work you might want to recheck cam timing.

Compression check. If out of spec you likely have the cam timing off like buster said.

Thanks for all the prompt replies guys. I checked for compression and found out that 1&4 have 60psi and 2&3 have no compression at all. Bad head gasket or what should I do? As for the can timing concerns I'm sorry its right.
    thanks once again guys.

you need to pop the valve cover and watch everything rotate and see whats going on..sounds like youve got valves open when they shouldnt be
