I made this rack for my bike. Really strong and will take a top box. Thought I would share the photos in case anyone else wants to make one....

Looks nice!! I like the way the curve at the back matches the shape of the tail piece. What are the bottom legs attached too?

Ignition advancer, Hugger, Braided steel brake lines, Progressive fork springs, FUEL end can, Fenda-extenda, Scotoiler Mk7 with HCR, K&N Filter, LED Rear Lights, Fuel gauge mod, GIVI rack plate and boxes:
When fitted - Powerbronze Viper fairing, Stebel Nautilis horn, Relay mod to lights, Battery condition monitor.
Waiting in the wings:
ZX6F rear shock, Ivan's Jet Kit, Powerbronze Lazer Bikini Fairing.
The whole unit was made from scratch - raw 5/8 steel tubing. I custom bent the tubing to suit the bike. I would recommend 1/2 tubing as the 5/8 may be too heavy duty.
The bottom legs are bolted to the threaded nubs mounted on the bar near the signal lights. The rack was just resting on the bike for the photo but the top bolts will go into the same holes for the rear grab bars. They counter sink into the tubing to keep the top of the rack smooth.
I may think about doing up some crash guards too.

1/2" is good. I was making them for a while....can't find any old pictures though....

Good work! That looks much more substantial than the OEM accesory that Kawasaki offered. Is it flush to the top of the Corbin, or nestled below?

So how do you get those nice uniform bends in the tubing? Special tools? Heat?

...as welcome as a sneeze in a motorcycle helmet.
I went to the home depot and bought a conduit bender for electrical work. I think it was $20. No heat required for this size of pipe. I just threw my 200lbs against it on the cement floor. Pretty easy -just a time investment. If you are thinking about doing it - go for it.

Nice. Now if only my Mig welder didnt suck....
2001 ZR-7S - too many mods for the signature to handle, apparently.

So I think I misunderstood something. I went and bought 1/2" steel pipe. It's 1/2" ID and though it looked too thick when I went to pick it up, but I took it anyway and had to cut it in half to get it home. So I figured I would try and bend it anyway. Well, it was hard but believe it or not it bent, until the conduit bender broke. Anybody need some black steel pipe?![]()
So, my question is, what sort of tubing did you guys use? Can you tell me where you bought it and what the description was, or perhaps the intended application for the tubing? ID and OD would help considerably. Thanks again! I have a month to complete this, and I've found access to a welder so I'm ready to go!

I didn't make one yet, although I intend to do so soon. I was under the impression that the tubing was the metal electrical conduit, the silver colored tubing for running wires through... Drax, Is this what you used?![]()
