2005 z1000 won't start.
rode my bike home from work for lunch, came out after to take off and bike wouldn't start. It makes all the normal sounds when i turn the key over, like the whining noise, but when i push the start button you just hear the starter pretty much, like it was out of gas. I have over half a tank, so must not be getting any fuel. I googled and searched this forum and found a couple of people who had problem with the ignition switch wire(gray) the runs to the ecu being broken or disconnected. It is not disconnected. Should i remove the tank and open of the wire cover and see that gray wire is broken on its way to the ecu or should i maybe try something complete different. Im up for anything, just really need my bike back running. Thanks for any help in the future.

I know this sounds dumb, but did you toggle the kill switch back and forth. I had mine in the middle of off and on once. Sadly it took a half hour for me to click to.

Are you getting any FI codes when you flip the key on? Can you hear the fuel pump when you turn on the ignition switch? I'm not sure if this would be possible on fuel injected bikes but I would run into vapor lock issues with my quad after I come back from the track from time to time and let it sit for a bit...but that was carbed. Might be a long shot but crack the tank filler cap and try to start it. If it's not venting right maybe it's creating a vacuum and not pulling fuel in...doubtful but you never know.
Also may want to look into the kickstand saftey switch and the tip over switch. Not sure the kickstand switch would disable you from being able to start the bike but the tip over switch probably would.

Was going to say the kickstand as well, but i think that is only when you put it in gear. It should still start. Toggle the kill switch a few times, open up the fake choke. Ever consider jump starting it? Do you have a hill close by you could roll down?
Problem fixed. Actually fixed it a few days after the post but just got back on here. Here is the messed up thing. I ran the codes. Came back with code 23, cam sensor. So i took off my frame slider and removed my cam sensor and it just feel to pieces in my hand. The part is housed in a black plastic, i guess my POS ebay frame sliders got to hot next to the motor and it sat right up against the sensor. The excessive heat just weakened the plastic and ruined the sensor. A freaking $70+ oem part. Luckily i found one on ebay(they use the same sensor in some of their PWC engines) for $25 with free shipping. Put the puppy in(and removed frame sliders) and it fired right up. Havent had a problem since except for my key vibrating. Thanks for the input.
