Maintenance Suggestions while tank is off

Just wondering what maintenance you guys recommend be done while my tank is off.

I've got to replace my head gasket as it is going out on my rider's left side and a slight bit of water has entered my engine - luckily I caught it in time.

I'm going to have the valves checked, but was wondering if there's anything else I should do while I have the bike taken apart like this.

Any suggestions/common problems I should look into?

Of course the dealer says go do the whole 9 yards and wants 700+ dollars for it. I can probably do most of it myself except adjusting the valves and replacing the head gasket correctly.

Head gasket as in the one below the cylinder between it and the cases?

You can do the valves yourself - it's not that hard.

Change your plugs! Might as well if you haven't in a year or so, it is way easier while things are apart.

    Haha, all good suggestions

I don't know about the valves, reading through the guide it sounds like way more than I want to hassle with - guess I'm lazy...

I'll definately do the K&N and spark plugs though.

Do you have a resource/link for the cut on the airbox though?

Paint the valve cover to match the orange on your bike.
