    Anybody in the states have problems with fuel pumps on '03-'04 Z1000s? I've never heard of anything before this. Lately mine has sounded louder than it used to. I'm not sure if it is my imagination or not. It's not a bad sound, just louder. Any idea if that is an indication that it is wearing out? I've run out of gas 2 times on my bike, but that was thousands of miles ago, so I don't think that would be the problem, but who knows? Is a loud pump a bad sign?

    In most cases the problem is NOT THE PUMP byt the fuel pressure regulator
    byt KAWA dont sell it separate byt together with the pump and fuel filter as a combo!!!!
    as a car mechanik i see that combo in every jap car whos running an in tank pump every time i had to change fuel filter!!!i dont know why KAWA dont sell separately the parts!!!!!

    Dredging up an old thread - but I too have a an 04 z1000 with a fuel pump that is playing up and limiting my fun factor.

    I know the part number is 490400009. In Australia they want $580 new.

    I going to look for a second hand one.
    What other models are these pumps fitted to?
