HEY EVERYONE, I AM THE OWNER OF A 208 KAWASAKI NINJA ZX6R. THIS IS THE FIREST BIKE I HAVE HAD AND I REALLY LIKE IT. ONLY PROBLEM IS I AM 6'3 275LBS. I VISITED SEVERAL CYCLE SHOPS LOOKING FOR THE ONE I LIKE, AND AFTER THE ADVICE OF SEVERAL SALESMAN WROTE A CHECK FOR $9000 FOR A BRAND NEW ZX6R. NOW, AFTER RIDING A LITTLE OVER 500 MILES IM A LITTLE DISAPOINTED WITH THE POWER AND ABILITY TO GET THE FRONT WHEEL UP....I FEEL LIKE THE BIKE IS JUST TO SMALL, BUT WAS PUSHED AWAY FROM THE ZX10 BY ALMOST EVERY SALESMAN SAYING IT WAS TO MUCH BIKE FOR A NEWB. ANY THOUGHTS ON HOW MUCH MORE DIFICULT A ZX10 WOULD BE FOR A NEWB TO LEARN AND HANDLE SAFELY? WILL IT MAKE THAT MUCH OF A DIFFERENCE BECAUSE OF MY SIZE? ANY INPUT WOULD BE APPRECIATED. THANKS....

i also ride a new zx6r a lil different situation though its not my first bike and im 5 ft 7 in and 150 pds but my friend rides a new zx10 and its way too much power for his skill level hes got a cool head so hes not to wild on it but i think you made the right decision for your first bike i put a sprocket kit on my bike and it brings the front up pretty easily but in the end its up to you but thats just my advice oh and by the way my friend is about 6"1 and about 220 hope this helps

if you feel you can handle it then i would say go for it. being that your such a big guy. i guess that would kinda be the same reason i didnt get the zx10 because i felt that the bike was to big for me .my opinion is you being the size you are go for the 10 but know what your in for .that bike is a power house.the six does not feel small with a 150lb rider but for you it would be a lil small.i think size has a lot to do with the bike you get but it is better to start out with a smaller one.look at the bright side those dealers were looking out for you.they didnt want you to be another statistic that bought a thabike t was way too big for them .they didnt want to be your dr kvorkian. i think thats how you spell it anyway good luck and try to get a chance to ride one before you buy one

just keep in mind that its not really "can i handle the power". its more of a things happen much faster and before i realize their going to happen it already has. it is just so easy to go so fast.

Sounds like a troll in the new riders section to me. Moving to "Other Bikes".

New riders should not concern themselves with ZX6Rs or ZX10Rs or wheelies.

KAWASAKINEWB - If you're honestly asking about trading up to a ZX-10, please don't do it. You need to learn how to safely ride what you have first. And even the ZX-6R is really 'too much bike' for a new rider.

this smells of future "statistic" in my sad opinion....

at the end of the day it doesn't matter what size engined bike you've got, it'll only go as fast as you want it to.

when i got my first bike it was a vtr1000 then swapped that for my current bike, cbr1000rr

i think this is all very good input but i think the best thing to do is to ride a 10 like i said before. you may realize that the six is alot easier to handle in real world situations when compared to your skill level please dont just jump on a bike that is way too much for you and think you can handle it cuz to be a good rider you need to know you can handle it

If you want the front to raise and like wheelies you should have bought a honda cbr600rr. 07 or 08 only. I can't keep the front wheel on the ground. I am 6 foot one and 280

don't take offence to the advice the people here are offering. the overall picture here is to keep you, a new rider as safe as possable without limiting your "fun". i too am a rider of only 3 years on a street bike, and am still learning, it is a never ending process.

i will leave you with a tidbit, the best advice i'v ever gotten was.... get ready
use your head, trust what it tells you.

The 10R has a vastly smaller range of error. On a 6R you can slip up a little and be okay. A 10R will not be as accepting of mistakes.

Honestly, I wouldn't sell a new rider a current 600 supersport either! Now, if you are mature and have good self control, it helps, but it is still a lot of bike.

Also, please turn off your caps lock. It would help people take you more seriously.

It is too bad you weren't looking in November. I demo rode a ZX-14 and Concours 14 in Houston at the International Motorcycle show. They had 6Rs and 10Rs to demo ride too.

One more addition, I am 6'3" and am crazy uncomfortable on a 6R or 10R. You sure you want to fold yourself up on one of those? If I were you, and you trust yourself with a big motor, I'd look for a used ZRX1200 or something.
