Renthal bars

I'd like to lower the bars on my Z1000...I'm used to sports bikes and the Z is hurting my back a little at times.

Are renthal ultra lows good on the Z1000?

ANybody fitted them successfully?

How much lower do they make the grips?

When fitting, do they go straight on with ease or do I need clamp adaptors?

Also, when fitting, do I need to lengthen the cables or is it all pretty straightforward?

Thanks very much.

from what i've heard about the ultra lows they are a good improvement, and a pretty straight forward install with no parts needed. I'm still waiting on mine to be delivered so I can get them on though.

I don't have Ultra-Lows but I have the Streetfighters, which are similar.

People who have the Ultra-Lows rave about how awesome they are. People seem to love them as I love my bend.

Tons of people fit them successfully.

They're substantially lower. Consider these specs:
Stock height - 120mm (give or take 5mm)
Ultra-Low height - 75mm
Rise is also considerably less. 89mm to 50mm

They're direct replacement. Since they're 22mm diamiter bars you can use the stock clamps and cables.

The only thing you have to do is drill control placement holes for the controls to stay in place.

I put Renthal Ultra Lows on mine, pretty easy swap. You do have to drill some locating holes for the switch controls though. And also you won't be able to re-use your bar end weights. They're a good couple inches lower though and give a sportier feel to the bike, I like 'em.

+1, just make sure you measure for the locating holes from the end of the bar, not the bend of the bar and measure several times as you only get one shot with the drill. You will be happy with them.

Or just mock up your controls on the bars first, find where you want them, mark the inside with some blue dye or a magic marker and place them back on the bars. Voila, you have a mark where you need to drill!
