The Z is awesome!

I forgot how awesome my Z1k is. I have not rode it since early NOV 08 till yeaterday. I got on and did not miss a beat. The bike ran super good and just made to so happy that I own it. I took my HD out Saturday for the first time this year and it was a blast too, but nothing like the Z.

I rode my buddys 05 R6 Raven yesterday as well and it made me love the Z even more. Being that leaned over is not for me-that's why I got ride of the 07 ZX6R.

I just bought a '02 RC51 over the winter, and have had the chance to ride both of them a couple times this year. I must say, the Z is a WAAAY better street bike. MUCH MUCH more comfortable, just as fast, smoother, much more nimble, cheaper on insurance, and I get alot more questions about it at gas stations! But....when track day comes...the RC51 gets the nod, hands down! Plus that V-twin revving at 10K sounds sooooo nice.

I dont mean to thread jack but since I am new... can't post new topic. Is 7000 on a brand new 08 z1k good deal? The OTD price is 8300 which seems high for tax and fee. I am in NC. What is the avg tax and fee most people pay and if you recently got yours. How much?

I got my 06 from Velocity Powersports in Summerville, SC for 5900. It only had 300 miles on it. If their OTD price is 1300 more than they are asking for the bike IMHO they are ripping you off. I would keep looking around. I love my Z tho and would not stop looking til you find one.

That is the feeling that I got. I have not counter offer yet. They also have a 06 with 350 miles asking for 5999 currently. Too bad most dealership don't open today. Another dealership in Charlotte has brand new 08 for 6999. I have not been able to ask them what is the OTD price. I remember it was only 500 or so when I bought my 600rr brand new. NC tax is only 3%. But I want to find out from you guys since most of you own Z1k. Give me a better idea to negotiate and so on.

I feel that is not a bad price at all for a new bike. Since they are not seeling the Z1K's in teh USA for 2009 you have to take what you can find if you want a new one. The tax and fee's do seem on the high side. have the dealership give a a full brakedown of all the fees and tax.

As to the guy with the RC51-they are awesome bikes and I would love to have one, but I don't every see myself owning another full on sport bike.

I feel your love CrystalZ because everytime I'm on my Z I just know I am never getting rid of it. I feel the styling will last forever. It is the pefect street fighter.

I'd pick the Honda too. Just don't crash it. I hear those radiators are fragile and are hard to find and expensive.

The Z is a great bike. Out of the four bikes I've owned the zed is the best. Such a confidence inspiring ride...

I agree with Jason . . . a full on sports bike is best for the track. As far as an everyday riding motorcycle to fulfill your need for speed, handling and comfort the "Z" will be hard to beat for many years to come!

I have no desire to get rid of the Z I love my Harley and would love to get a Street Glide someday, but I really love the Z and can see myself riding it for a long time to come. I'm only 31 and in good shape so it's not like I'm going to out grow that style of bike anytime soon. Maybe when I'm in my 50's I may not want to be a (Fighter) but right now I do.

The Z is not a track bike and for that reason is why I bought it. I had a few SS bikes and they are just not comfortable for the street like the Z is. If the Z had a more comfee seat it would be just as comfee as my HD and it already does everything better.

Love or hate the looks of the Z it's the ride and the feel of the bike that makes it what it is. I just happen to love the looks too!

If you still got the Z when you're in your 50's, you better hold on to it! Probably be worth a little bit of money if its still in good shape. BTW I put a Corbin seat on mine, much better for me. I took a 4000 mile trip in 11 days last year, I even hit 130mph at one point in South Dakota loaded down with luggage (lol shhh don't tell). The Z is a helluva bike!

I got mine out of storage this last week, and I had almost forgotten how much fun it really is to ride. Now riding it with the new exhaust burbling on decel...too much fun! And not uncomfortable like my GSXR was.
