I've only heard Supertrapps on a Chevy truck and a V-Max..

I'm curious about any weight differences vs a standard can.

They are the ugliest things in the world! For what you would pay for a pair of those things you could get a nice used pair of slipons from this site.

correction the factory pipes are the ugliest things in the world!! i kinda like the look of the supertrapps, but thats neither here nor there, as far as weight saving its gotta be huge compared to oem, and they are probably lighter than some aftermarket cans the supertrapps measure 13" long and 4"dia. and are all aluminum construction, so they are probably lighter than some stainless cans but probably the same or a bit heavier than like a carbon fiber can!

I had a Supertrapp on my old KLR650...lets just say I should of kept the Jardine I had on there before. It wasn't a bad pipe, but the fit and finish was poor compared to the Jardine, not to mention the Jardine sounded much better.

How would you attach those? There doesn't look to be any tab to mount it to.

edit: read the specs, those tabs in the pictures are weld on.

They come with some weld-on tabs, they are a universal can, I was thinkin of maybe a real short mid-pipe that angled the cans out, and kinda keep them down by the swing arm

I had the Supertrapp on my 79 CBX and the only way it would make any horsepower was to cut a hole in the end cap but then you might as well buy slipons. By the time you buy the Supertrapps, pay someone who knows how to weld to install the mounting tabs and make or buy some sort of midpipe your are going to wind up spending as much as a new pair of Yosh slipons that are on sale from time to time. I don't think anyone uses the Supertraps much anymore so there must be a reason for that ?

....the SuperTrapp I had on my '75 Z1-B offered something other pipes don't--the option of adding or removing rings to adjust the back-pressure. Drawback to the system---can raise engines operating temp's if said back-pressure not adjusted properly. Something else---because of the "plug" in the end, create the strangest sound............InTheRed, in their day, those CBX's were so wicked! The first true 100hp reliable bike. A classmate in highschool had one with a Bassani pipe. That inline 6 made the most incredible sounds....
