New Z1000 owner

Hi all my name is Craig aka Switch, I just today bought a new 08 Z1000 , last Z the dealer here in lethbridge AB Canada had, I love it, its lime green and I think thats the best part since most I have seen are black, So I will kinda stick out, at least up here, I traded off my 07 mean streak SE 1600, also a great bike , but I m not really in to the harley look so much anymore, anyway just thought I d say hi and pics soon to come. P.S is there anymods I should do right off the bat or just leave her alone for a bit? thanx Craig

Yes, remove...

....the REAR BUMPER first. Plenty of aftermarket fender eliminators on the market. Does the Canada model also not come with a rear tire hugger? Next, K&N air filter, a set of dual density ProGrips will squelch most of the vibration in the grips, & a set of case guard sliders. I have a 1st gen & use MotoTechnik guards. Lots on the market.
Anyway, great find of a bike, & welcome to the forum. Anxious to see pics...

mods

ya i agree with the air filter, and exhaust,i would also get rid of the stock bars and mirrors ,sliders are a must and led lights and turn signals ,definate flush mount turn signals in the front, after that its all prefrence if u want to spend money on a power comander, mapping etc ,good find and you should enjoy your bike way over the cruiser

No it dosnt have the tire hugger in the rear , I wish it did, I also found out that they didnt sell the white ones in canada, Going to take her out this weekend, and yes the rear BUMPER will be a thing of the past as of 5:00 pm tomorrow.
Thanks for all the tips

Another question,

......my bike, an '03, came with the pillion seat & a cowl cover. One of my riding buddies has an '08 which only came with the p/seat. He found a really slick cowl cover--don't know the brand right off hand, but, came in factory colors...

The OEM cowl is by far the best looking for the 07/08 models... not sure how much they go for in the Great White North, but I got mine for less than $70 USD. The exhaust is expensive to replace, so I still have the giant tubas... but not for much longer! The biggest bang for instant transformation is to get a clear alternatives integrated taillight so you can lose the rear fender and then put bar-end mirrors on to get rid of the alien antennas! Then just enjoy the ride and update things every few weeks until you run out of money!

BTW, I think you live where the farm team for my Hurricanes is located... right?

Have you seen what....

....exhaust "fix" iBuchon, the Site Elder, has on his 2nd Gen? Look on, "What makes yours different". He installed the 1st gen pickle fork pipes with what looks like a salami slice cut on the ends. Pretty hot.

Yup lethbridge Hurricans the best WHL team out there , or atleast we think so out here, and I have priced pipes and have no idea what to go with, as for the rear bumper, it will be leaving in the morning.

New cans would be a good way to go. But I really like my new bars I put on. As a lot of us will tell you, it gets your arms in a way better position, turning seems easier and smoother with less input needed to turn, and you get to pick a cool color too.

That being said, welcome to the ultimate z community.

Welcome

Wish we had green down here. Traded my 1500 Mean Streak in on my 08 Z1000. Agree with the other comments about fender eliminator. Just get on the internet and have fun searching for Z1000 accessories. This forum is great for getting ideas. Exhaust swap is personal preference. Also highly recommend a Corbin seat.
