I may have gone over the edge...

I think I've been seduced by the forces pulling me to the dark side.

Saturday I put a deposit on a 1098 Streetfighter, black, S model.

This is kind of nuts. I love my Z1K. For the last couple years I have been thinking of selling my Vulcan and getting a sport tourer and that's what I have been shopping for. But then Ducati had to build this bike, beautiful, sexy and dark, with that engine! Do I need 155 HP? No. Do I need a track data analyzer? No. Did I ever think I would spend that much money on a bike? Absolutely not. But, but, but, I do want it as seemingly irrational as that might be.

Oh, what to do? The deposit is refundable if I don't take the bike.

Since I have never even seen this bike in the metal (or carbon fiber, as the case may be) and certainly not ridden it, it feels a bit like placing an order for a mail-order bride.

Oh, nice bike! Pull the trigger, that's a bike you'll remember having the rest of your life. What a piece of art.

So are you going to keep the Z1K? The Street Fighter is a killer looking bike and should feel a great deal stronger then the Z.

Hey if you've got the money go for it. Thats an awesome looking bike, and you can't beat the torqueyness of v-twin power. I'd like to have that bike.

My advice, be careful where you spend the money. If you have the cash, go for it and have fun. However be real careful financing things like that in this VERY tough economy that could get even worse before it gets better.

It is a lot of cash BUTT if I had the money to spend with no worries I would own that bike myself. I agree the economy is in the crapper but if you have no worries then don't think twice anymore, own it and ENJOY!!

Posting pic's,

.......Sight unseen? You need not worry, you will not be disappointed. Saw it at the Intl Bike show here, & it's a ZK with an 1100cc twin. What I wanna see are pic's of the them side-by-side. Also, interested to hear how it manages to put 155hp on the ground without staying in wheelspin mode. Supposed to be under 400lbs with a full tank of fuel, right?....Hell, what's wrong with me? I'm saying that like it's a bad thing!

Hate you. hahaha. Not really, but I also want one very very much. At the rate my now 10 week old goes through diapers I think I am out of luck.

Very Nice! Don't let the economy mongers worry you. You're helping the economy by purchasing, not to mention you get an awesome machine to ride!

If your head can't figure out what your heart wants, you've got to buy that bike! That's the way motorcycle purchases work for me! ,BK

I knew I could count on you guys for the kind of encouragement I needed!

IDK about selling the Z. I will definitely sell the Vulcan. As long as I don't lose my job, I can swing it financially. All my other vehicles are paid off.

As far as not spinning out the rear wheel, it does have traction control

I won't actually make the decision until I get to see it and sit on it. In the meantime, as soon as we get some riding weather, the dealer said he would let me take out a 1098 (non-streetfighter) so I can see how I like the feel.

I know everyone is always hyper to get on something new, in this economy I would just be cautious not to over-extend. Think about what would happen if you DID lose your job. As the millions of other Americans right now that have.

I say go for it too! That 1098 motor sounds so unbelievably sweet. It's like a caged bull, ready to tear down anything in it's path.
