Question Secondary throttle plates removing

Hi guys!

Some people have removed their secondary butterflies for more reactivity on ZZR1400 or ZX10R.

What you of this modification think on the Z750/Z1000?

This modification requires a custom injection map...

Thanks

It's an interesting idea. In addition to a custom map as you suggest I would think that it will also require some new throttle handling skills from the riders. The secondary plates are in there to compensate for folks that "whack on" the throttle at too low an RPM. In effect it's a servo controlled version of the vacuum diaphram on CV carbs.

exactly BCRIDER!

But I would like to have some feedbacks of Z riders...

For sure there is a better reactivity but we can also loose power

Dynograph with custom injection map will be a good thing

I have been having problems with my Z shutting down. I just tracked it down to the subthrottle assembly. I was out in the middle of nowhere when my bike died. I disconnected the wires to the subthrottle and she ran fine. I could not tell if the bike ran any different. This got me home at least.
I am not sure if I want to continue to ride the bike with the subthrottle disconnected, but it did not seem to make a difference good or bad.
I am just throwing this out there for you to try, it is easier than ripping out your throttle bodies to remove the actual plates.

off topic: Hey man PM me sometime I'm always lookin' for someone to ride with. As far as I know, I've only seen 3 other Z1K's in Albuquerque.

Well! That would be one way to find out if it's a starter at least. Make sure that they are wide open somehow and then pull the plug and see how it does.

Off topic

Sorry about the off topic post! I was just pointing out that I was able to run the Z with the secondaries disabled and it was an easier way than physically removing them. Has anyone else tried this?

I found this :

here

So we have to know when secondary throttle plates are open or close on Z1000...

Then we will be able to say if the mod can be beneficial or not (with a custom map of course!).

Now we just have to figure out how to open the secondaries quicker or remove them and see what happens on the Z1K. I am even more curious about this now...

sounds like a possable fulling issue. have you run any injector\carbon cleaner in your bike yet? I ran some of the BMW stuff that they recomend for their bikes it helped out quiet a bit at the 4000 mile mark, ran cleaner but now I have 7k its getting a little rough again so I am off to get some more.

After reading the article about the plates in the ZX-14 I am drooling for a ZX-14.In black of course.Gee more people having trouble with Ivan imagine that.
I looked up my service manual for the Z.Thought there would be a easy way to get the throttle plates off.Like taking the front of the airbox off and taking the srews out of the plates .Wrong.Like the steps for taking the air box out. #1 Remove engine.HUH!!!!Guess I can't take a swazall to it,just kidding.I think.10.38 out of a stock motor eeek!!!I can see why the injection map needs redone.I would love to know when our bikes plates open.Too bad there isn't some electrical trickery to do.I did look at the schematics and no I don't have a clue.If it was a desktop puter I would just rip everything out and Pentium 4 with overclocked 2Gig memory and a big video card and there you go.I want more I want more.Like Mick Jagger said :Too much is never enough!:
