Yeah there will be a limit to where dependability will be an issue. The bigger the bores get the thinner the cylinder walls will become, especially in between each bore. I'm not familiar with the capabilities or dimensions of the Z engine, so I might be talking extreme's, but something you might wanna look into. I'm sure the manufactuers of these kits have done their research, but was their research done for max horsepower or max miles?

I highly doubt the block on the ZR1000A1 can handle a bore that size. I would venture to guess he was looking at a big bore kit for an old Kawi 1100, and even those require an entirely different cylinder block (aftermarket) for that big of a displacement.

I would suggest doing a little bit first, head work and cams, and see if that doesn't fix 'ya. You'll save dough and keep the reliability of the stock piston compression and if you absolutely must upgrade you'll already have killer top end mods to boot. Just my opinion.

I know a guy that had a zx9r making about 150 rwhp, with the Muzzy BB, but it was also the whole 9 yards as well.... all the port-polish-carb/jet work-fine tuning you could imagine. It's not easy to swallow getting pulled by a gsxr 1000, but it happens (z1000 is still much cooler, though )

That seems very low.. seen dyno videos of Z's with exhaust/air filter/other small modifcations putting down low 140whp. ZX9R's are carb'd still though.

Heres the thing, the big bore kit is not worth the money for the extra 45cc. You would be more cost efficient buying higher compression, higher performance pistons in a stock oversize and doing headwork. Don't forget the camshafts and possibly a larger set of throttle bodies to support the breathing, along with a better flowing intake system.

If you were to go turbo or supercharger wouldnt you think it would just have so much torque/horse that keepin the rear wheel hooked up and or the front wheel down wou;d become a massive issue. Still though a supercharger or turbo would be bada**!!!!!

turbo = 1.6 multiplier...
i.e. a 1.0L motor with a turbo is equivolent to a 1.6L motor.
.953L X turbo 1.6 = 1.55L = 1520cc
A turbo requires less work for installation vs. big bore/stroker work.

Still 15hp over the stock zx9r motor.... and 150 rwhp is just shy of what most of the current SS bikes are making.

Post some of those vid links, I'm guessing it's mostly over-seas bikes... alot of them are (or claim, anyways) to be in the 140+ club. There was a guy with a red Z that used to be on here, making 140-142 hp, and it was really modded/tuned.
