Ixil Pipes, experience?
Couple of quick ones. For those who have Ixil pipes what is your experience? Fit finish and overall quality. How does it compare? How loud are they. I'm looking at the low mount oval aluminim or carbon. Have you had to get a PC for the slip on's
Last dumb question. What's the proper pronunciation. Is it the word or the letters sounded out... ![]() |

I had the same probs as jerky, tyre hitting them. E-mailed Ixil in Spain & they sent me a new mounting bracket which sorted the problem by making them a little further apart.
Finish is very good, standing up to UK salt encrusted roads well. Fitting was a real bast$$d. But worth the pain, I think. Mine came awith a noise killer to fit in the end of each, which drops the Db quite a bit. Noise is quite pleasant. Without them in they are LOUD. The noise killers are in my garage somewhere Zanlin |

My wife complain that the exhaust made her too warm. The seat was not warm, but the vacuum that formed behind the passenger (when we were moving) sucked the exhaust right up her back. She smelled like fuel when we were done riding. BTW, I ran a Powercommander with an Ixil map as well.
Sound was not my idea of what the bike should sound like.

Decepticon,
Which exhaust did you end up gong with after the TwoBros group buy fell through?

Got an Arata from a dude in Canada. It is nice. The only drawback is the cosmetics. The Z1000 looks better with two cans. Power is good, but I'm thinking that I might switch back to a dual setup if I get a new ZX10 next year.

Just installed a set yesterday (conical).
Full opinion here..... The finish on the pipes is beautiful. No flaws, great welds and a quality product. The instructions are useless, its like giving you a general idea of what to do but as for explaining it, good luck. The only ODD part that still doesnt fully sit well with me (time will tell) is that you have to space the rearsets out approx 1/2" so that the pipes can clear. This gives a wider profile and I am hoping that it doesnt affect my cornering??? The fitment goes on like any other set of pipes I have installed. (make sure you have a deadblow hammer and a chunk of 2x4 because you are going to need it) The hardware for mounting the pipes to the undertail: WOW!! Lets just say it would have been nice for them to explain how the flat tray goes inside and works as a support. What would have been even nicer is if they would have sent bolts that actually FIT!! (An emergency trip to home depot was necessary to complete the install) The sound - I LOVE IT. I have had lots of different pipes on all sorts of bikes and these sound exactly they should. I have been running V-Twin hooligan bikes for the last 3yrs and even with the baffles out, the exhaust remains within limits. So far I have been nothing but fully satisified.... |

IXIL Pipes
Leaner,
Thanks for the reply and the detail. Pipes look good. Car's not so bad either. I'm going to your side of the country next week. I thought I'd come out of the cold for a few days ![]() |

But you only need the spacers if you keep the stock rearsets ![]() |
