    Only 1 vote? Crickets?

I have the week off starting on May 14th but I still don't know if I'm going to make it. I'd be happy with anywhere. Boone may be a nice change. I usually pass through there on my way to Maggie Valley. I'm also fine with revisiting Wytheville. No I haven't voted because I still don't know if I'm coming. Wife has not gotten a job yet and now I owe a good lump of money on my taxes this year. Grrr.

Well we are about 4 - 5 weeks away. It doesnt look like there is a huge amount of interest for this year. It looks like I will probably be able to go so Im hoping this ride happens. I love my trip to the mountains every year and meeting up with the regular group of charactors. Im hoping interest picks up here and this yearly event doesnt fall on its face and fade away. It is always such a great time

Glad to hear you will probably be able to make it Jon. I will definitely make it as I have the whole week off to ride. It sounds like Andrew and Michael will be there and maybe some others. We just need to decide where so we can make hotel resi's. I have not voted yet either as it does not matter to me where we go. Wytheville makes it a 900 mile ride home on Sunday so that is probably my least favorite. I do not know Johnson City but it would probably be the cheapest as it is not a tourist spot like Maggie Valley or Boone. We should probably try to make reservations somewhere by April 19 as we will be a month away from check in.

Everyone that is planning to go, check in and vote if you have a preference. It is always a great time and this year will be no different!

    I'm winning the poll.

    I'd be happy with anywhere.

I could have time before and after to hit some spots that are out of range, like the Cherohala Skyway.

Cherohala Skyway is well past Maggie Valley. Just saying... I'm not against Maggie Valley either even though I voted Boone. It really doesn't matter to me where we stay.

It looks like Boone is the winner but it also looks like nobody would have a problem with Boone or Johnson City. I was going to check hotel prices and availability in Boone and Johnson City since time is running out but I have been out of town and I am having surgery tomorrow so I am not sure when I can do it. I guess normal hotelier Stan is not coming this year. If someone else wants to look around for a good place to stay please do or I will see what I can find when I have a chance.

Good luck with surgery tomorrow Rob. Err, today I mean. I was hoping or more votes here. I got no reply from Bill or Craig by PM but I did text Jr and he said they are coming. Andrew put up a thread about a hotel in Maggie Valley. I'm confused.

I just did some quick looking around at hotels. Boone is like Maggie Valley where the Wed and Thur rates are good but Fri and Sat rates will double. Availablity is low at some places because we have waited so long. Quality Inn, Comfort Inn were $75 for Wed and Thur and $150 for Fri and Sat so total is about $500 for all 4 nights. Like Andrew said, Johnson City has more places and the same rate for all four nights, Quality Inn on Pinnacle is about $67 for each night so total is around $300.

I still want to make it but I wont know for sure until just before. I had surgery last week and still cannot turn my head well. I get staples out next week so hopefully I will be better by then. I will be a last minute decision.

I don't want to pick where to go if I might not even make it so Jon and whoever else wants to can decide where to go. I hope I see everyone there but if not have a great time.

I'll try to look again tomorrow. I looked a little a few days ago and came up with the same thought you did Rob.. Tomorrow is my 1 day off a week but I have certification testing tomorrow which will eat half of my day.

With the lack of participation, confusion and injuries, I was wondering if we could reschedule or schedule a second trip to maybe in July or September this year?

Ed, sorry to hear about your skiing accident. I have never had broken ribs but I know they can be painful. I am glad to hear you are recovering well. You need to stick with safer sports like motorcycling.

We sometimes have a fall ride in Sept or early Oct if we can generate enough interest. The last one we had was 2 or 3 years ago and we stayed in Boone. There were four of us and we had a great time. I will probably be up for a fall ride because it looks like I am not going to make the one in May. I had just staples removed from my back and neck today but I still have nerve damage in my neck so I finally have to admit that I will probably not make ROTR unless I have a miracle recovery in the next few days. This will be the first one I have missed in a while and I hate to miss it but this body does not heal like it used to. Everyone have a fun ride at ROTR and take pictures or videos.

I will start a thread in late summer to see if anyone is up for an ROTR .5 ride this year in the fall. I know I will be itching to ride by then for sure.

Stupid phone. Sorry if this is a double post my phone wont do anything right. So as I started writing 5 minutes ago....
I have some bittersweet news. I bought a 1966 Mustang last Friday. Its something Ive been thinking about for a couple years. I bought an 07 Mustang GT last summer but that didnt quite cure the itch. And since I havent been riding much at all since I moved to straight flat Delaware I decided to pull the trigger. So I wont be coming to ROTR and I will be selling my motorcycle. Maybe you guys can reschedule like Ed said or do a .5 ride like Rob said. For those of you who may still go next week, have fun and be safe. I have always loved riding in the mountains and have always had a great time with the guys and girls at ROTR.
