    Ride On The Ridge 2014 - 13.5 - Planning

Going to put this thread out here to start planning for ROTR 13.5. I know there is some interest out there, and since this is a new location we will need more time to plan it. Let's throw some info out and see what sticks

Dates:.... my preliminary calendar looks open for:

    September 25-28
    October 9-12

Location: We discussed Boone, NC as a possible location, seems central to great roads (421, 16, 58, BRP etc) and is a new spot for the ride.

Hey! You actually picked some dates that work with my schedule. I might try to make it for this one. In the past ROTR is always on weekends I'm working. Let's hope for some decent weather. Right now either date would work for me.

My only concern with the October dates will be the increase in tourists coming to look at the leaves change colors. Though it would make for some great forum pictures

Thats true. Both dates are so far away they both look good for me right now. It might be a good idea to plan for the Sept date and then if there is bad weather or something we still have the Oct date to try and make it.

That is a great idea, I wonder if we could get any of the old timer's back for this ride

Anyone know if there is a better side of Boone to stay on? Seems we have several options for hotels.

I have stayed close to the Holiday Inn and I stayed out by the Super 8 in a mom & pop. 321 is the main 4 lane thoroughfare. Where 321 and 194 intersect is App State Univ. and traffic can get congested. Any part of town would probably be okay.

I was just looking at the football schedule for Appalachian State since they are loacated in Boone. They are playing out of town the weekend of Sept. 27 so that will be a good weekend for us to be there. The weekend of Oct. 11 is Homecoming which means hotel rooms will probably be at a premium. Just eight more weeks.

Hmmm, good idea on the football schedule. Ok, any hotels look good to you? Who all is still in?
