Booked a room! So I am all set. May be trailer'ing down Wednesday if my one buddy from up here can go. He's still not 100%. If not I'll be taking Tues off of work so I can take the scenic route!

I am all set to go also. I am taking the week off and will be riding in the area if anyone wants to meet up before.

I'd be interested in joining the ride if the group isn't already too large. I'm a new 2014 Ninja 1000ABS owner after riding an 02 FZ-1 for the past 12 years. I've ridden all around the Gap numerous times and am anxious to explore more roads in the greater Appalachian range. I ride The Pace, and it sounds like your group has similar tastes. Let me know what I should do to get signed up! Does anybody come down from the DC area?

My room is booked. I'm checking in on 5/14, departing 5/19. I'm still trying to decide whether to ride the ZR or GPz, depending on whether my wife wants to ride pillion on some of the routes. She'll be driving down so I can ride light.

Hey Stmoluni, we always welcome new riders! We normally break into 3 groups with different paces and meet back up at major turns to make sure everyone is accounted for. You won't have trouble finding people to ride with at your preferred pace.

As to next steps showing up and meeting everyone is really all you need to do! Check out the Sticky thread for dates and hotel info. - http://www.riderforums.com/rotr-ride...on-thread.html Major ride days are typically Thurs, Fri and Sat. Not sure about people coming from the DC area. I'm heading down from Cleveland, Ohio.

Let me know if you're heading down on Tuesday. I'm not due to check in until Wednesday but can potentially ride all the way or part way on Tuesday.

Thanks for the welcome guys, but it looks like I will not be attending after all. I signed up to do a track day May 17th in NJ with my daughter on her SV-650. Maybe next time - is there ever a fall trip?

Sorry to hear you cant make it. We have had Fall trips if enough people are interested but it has probably been about 5 years since we had one. They always end in a .5 so if we did one this year it would be ROTR 14.5. We will see how much interest there is later in the year.

I've booked a room for Wed thru Sun. Looking forward to seeing you all. It's been a while.

I plan to make it a two day trip down and will be heading to Fort Wayne, IN afterwards so might tag along with you Ohio guys for a ways.

I'm in. Need to make my reservation. I have Sunday through Saturday off. I'll probably leave home Monday and show up in Maggie Valley Weds evening but since I have to be back to work Sunday I'll probably leave Friday morning.
I get screwed out of 2 days on a weeks vacation because I work weekends and our pay week is Sun-Sat.

So how did this event turn out? I have been going down to the Smokey's since 2005. I normally stay at a motorcycle campground called the Kickstand Lodge, which is located on NC28 in Stecoah, NC about 23 miles from Deals Gap where US129 and NC28 intersect. The owners Bobby and Mo have taken very good care of me and my friends who have shown up for events that I have planned their over the years. The bath house is very clean, tent camping is $18 per night. They also have small camping cabin, bunk house, etc.. Never had a bad meal at the Kickstand Lodge in all my years of staying there. Bobby and Mo cook a great spread each night for the guests who are staying there. It's a $10.00 donation for all you can eat. And trust me by the end of the days riding on those roads its nice to get back to camp, get out of your gear and get a shower, and then have a few cold ones before dinner. I've met all kinds of nice people riding anything you can think of over the years. The point to this post is that if you are going to enjoy the outdoors, you need to be outdoors, and not in a hotel room. I stay at the Kickstand Lodge each year for a entire week on the Monday after Mothers day. Next year I will be there May 11 to 18, 2015. Anyone that wishes to join me may do so. Jay
