I got here about 1600 today and there was some excitement along the way but more on that later, I expected lots of rain getting here but not a drop, great ride. A preview to oncoming attractions.
Tom you're missing out, the Womens Sweedish soccer team is staying at the hotel with us and they seem to have a thing for older gents.
Can't slow down, the Langoliers will get me
Well, I just got in. I left Lynchburg and went north on US-501 until I hit the Blue Ridge Parkway. Rode the BRP down all the way to Bent Mountain, just northeast of Floyd. Then came in on US-221.
Got a bit of light rain, nothing to whine about. But the wind was doing it's best to make my life difficult.
I may just go for a short jaunt as "The Group" is still out and about!!!
Looking forward to seeing everyone.
Certainly miss the "regulars" that couldn't be here.

It is a sentiment that submariners of all navies shared. We had long enjoyed a reputation as nonconformists who hated the monotony of fleet service. We disdained the pomp and circumstance of sideboys, buglers, and holystoned teak quarterdecks. We embraced the hardships of life in a steel tube and the go-it-alone missions that submarines were designed to do. We were a fighting elite, and we knew it.

I'm back at the hotel before the group. I somehow made a wrong turn and got spearated from the group. I called CJ and left him a message letting hime know. I found 81 and took it back to the hotel and GUMp was already here.

Everyone's back at the hotel. No mishaps, except one rider ran out of petrol.
It was cold and sometimes wet ride today. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.
I still hate Rt 16 to/from Tazewell and the truck who lost control in a turn almost took me out (missed me only by a few inches) is not helping. For this ROTR is am done with 16.
It is good seeing everyone and I am looking forward to many more ROTR to come.

Vera, glad you're OK. It looks like your weather should improve tomorrow. Wish we could be there to ride with everyone.
What an awesome day of riding we had today, Marvin was on a rail and took to curvy roads like Vera to the complaint department.
We had a superb run down my vavorite goat trail with most of us getting air at one point, even sitting on the side of the road to let the herd of cattle pass was special.
Tomorow, more of the same with better weather and Goobers.

After trying to find my line again this morning, I finally got my confidence back on the BRP today. I even got my butt out of the seat!![]()
The rest of the day was smooth sailing.
Thanks guys for a wonderful ROTR!!!!!!! I am already looking forward to seeing all the pictures.

Last evening's weather was a bit less than good. And the forcast for today had called for Sunny skies and wind. We had beautiful skies and the wind was only a challenge from time to time.
As always, I was glad to see old friends. It was good to make new ones also. Craig Jr, Dave, CJ, Ted and Deb. And, I missed the old friends that were unable to be here.
Took a few pictures and will see if any are worth posting once I get home tomorrow.
Here's hoping that everyone has safe travels back....![]()

Lucky Dogs!!! I spent Friday putting up sheetrock in my dining room and applied joint compound this morning before Kathy and I sang at a memorial evensong for a deceased rector. (Kathy sang an INCREDIBLE soprano solo from Handel's Messiah at the beginning of the service and I was transported!) We had a good throw-together choir from several churches and all went well, but I kept picturing the GPz sitting in the garage with the forks pulled for new seals and wishing I had it back together.
What y'all are doing this weekend is what we all live for! The rest of the time is just spent doing what we must to maintain in between the opportunities to go out for a really good ride. Get home safely and let us know how good it was.
