Review of Dainese Avro jacket and Alien Pelle pants
OK, I had been looking for some leather gear for a few months and liked what I saw with Dainese. Their low end gear is equal to a lot companies mid to upper end gear. The price of this quality did set me off a bit, though. I looked at full suits, 2 piece suits and separate pieces. I found a store within 30 minutes of my house that sold a lot of their line up and was able to try some stuff on.
I tried on the Avro 2 piece suit(749 euro), and it fit well, but seeing as how I am mainly a street rider and don't plan on any track days until I get back on US soil(OK, I really want to do a lap or two at the Nurbergring before I go) the suit was a bit much. I didn't need the aero hump on the back nor the knee sliders.
I wanted to try the Avro jacket, but only had a size 56(I am a 50)(449 euro). This is styled similar to the Avro suit, but goes lower on the back, does not have the aero hump, uses a thermal liner instead of the 3D bubble climate control stuff the their suits use, has waist adjusters and has a couple pockets.
I then tried the Delta Pro pants(369 euro). They fit, but the whole knee puck thing was still too much for me. The leather of all the pieces I tried on much was higher quality than the other 2 brands they sold(Buse and another I can't recall).
They had in stock a couple pairs of Alien pants(329 euro). Less track oriented, but still had internal knee protection(something I did really want). THe only size near mine was a 48. I tried it on, but it was a weeeee bit tight. I like the pants though.
I asked if they could order the Avro jacket in a 50 and the pants. Response,, "Yes. We can have them here in a week. And we have a 10% discount on all Dainese products right now." Really? cool! The prices over here are already lower than in the states. And I get another 19% off because I do not pay Value Added Tax. Order them now, please.
It took 10 days to come in, but I was not disappointed. The jacket fit excellent. I think the pants could be about an inch shorter because the knee armor is just a tad bit low, but besides that, perfect and the armor falls into place with a little nudge when I get on the bike and stays put throughout the ride. I am 5'8", weigh 155lbs. with a 40" chest. I normally wear a 32W/32L pant. A 32W/30L fits but I wear my jeans long for riding.
I like how much light the reflective material sends back(you know? Reflects). It all zips up together nicely. Full circumference zipper.
My few complaints: Jacket: The zippers are not YKK and they tuck under the leather making it really difficult to get to with gloves on. No back protection included. There is a pocket, but they do not include the back protection with the jacket. They let you choose if you want one of their inserts($89 US, they offer 2) or use a back protector that straps onto your body. They have several of these to choose from.
Pants: I think I can fit my ID into either of the pockets in the front but not sure if I can get it back out with the pants on.

Thermal liner. Kept me comfortable last night in mid 40* weather for the 20 minute ride I went on. The perforations on the front(the 4 false ab panels) let wind through and the liner doesn't stop it, but it didn't really bother me. My hands in my windproof/waterproof gloves were much more uncomfortable. Attachment 58015
This is one of the attachment points for the thermal liner. The other is a loop that a piece on the liner goes through and then snaps back on itself. Attachment 58016
Elastic cuff! So much better than the open cuff on my Cortech GX Air. Attachment 58017
The collar was a little stiff, but I expect this to lessen as it breaks in with time and wear.

The best part of the purchase: I got the pants for free, essentially. The jacket sells for $699 in the US and the pants are $429 in the US. I received 10% off the asking price of 778 euro($979 US), then another 19% off for VAT. That left me at 588.04 Euro or approximately $740 US out the door. Plus whatever the bank charged me for the exchange.
I will add a little more detailed information after I get a few rides in. Any questions? Ask away.

I really like the Dainese gear but it is not cheap. I have a pair of the Dyno street boots and love them. Almost all the protective items you could ask for in a boot and very comfortable. Got to get yourself a set their Tourqe boots to go with the rest of your outfit. The stock army boots just are not cutting it. jk
I don't think that customs would like me starting an import business using the Army Post Office.
I really like their Fulcrum boot. The Torques didn't seem to fit my foot very well. I need to wait a paycheck or two before I can get those. Another $200 right now on gear would not make the wife very happy.
And I agree, those Doc Marten's just do not cut it.
