so im looking to buy the alpinestars SP-1 glove from ironpony for $79, went to the store and tried on the medium, the glove overall fits really nice and snug, but the finger length is a little too long. is the small going to be too small for me? i tried the SMX-2 gloves and i wasnt able to even get my hand in. i also tried a well broken in SP-S in medium and that was too big. my current gloves are fox bombers in small. thanks for any replies!

I can't comment on the SP-1 but I recently ordered a pair of Atlas gloves from A-stars, and judging from the sizing chart on revzilla's website I ordered a Large...the palm and backhand/knuckle area felt fine but the fingers were a litte short. I sent them back for an XL and should be here this week. Should fit like a glove this time....

A good fitting glove you should be able to put your hand out flat and your fingertips shouldn't touch the end of the glove. Kinda hard for that to be true for every glove, especially when a lot of gloves are being produced with pre-curved finger areas.

My current gloves are Icon Tarmac in XL but read some alpinestar gloves run big so I ordered a L thinking they would be snug and stretch out a bit since they are a textile/leather hybrid but they were just a bit too small for me i think. Sounds like you have had similar results in trying different glove models on from the same manufacturer. One thing to keep in mind that a leather glove will stretch out a bit during break in, so if it feels snug now it will probably be ok after its broken in. Depending on how big the medium felt you may be able to go with a small and hope it stretches a bit during break in.
