    i ordered this

split it with a friend so it works out to roughly 130 bux per person. not a bad deal at all.

cool. i'll do a quick video review once i get it this friday.
might be worth it to do a cell phone audio quality check - i was thinking of making a phone call and recording a minute long msg on a voicemail @ speeds > 65mph.

let me know how urs works out

Well, the verdict is in on the Vcan bluetooth helmet.

The bluetooth part actually works well... BUT: it only has ONE speaker. It streams both left and right channels, but it bridges it into mono. Nowhere in the description of the helmet does it say this. It's a total deal breaker for me.

Let's talk about the helmet itself for a moment.

It is hands-down the lowest quality helmet I have ever had the displeasure to put my hands on. The padding is thin and flimsy. The graphics were crooked, and the entire helmet is lopsided. The vents are made of very thin flimsy plastic that actually makes a rattling noise at various speeds. The vents were mounted to the helmet off-center. Also, the helmet does not feel strong enough to protect my melon in a crash. Also, the rubber "breath guard" in the front had a strong chemical smell that gave me a headache. It was barely attached so I pulled it out.

I'm sending it back to Amazon.com from whence it came.

My recommendation to everyone is this: Stay away from Vcan brand helmets, with or without bluetooth. They're very poorly constructed from cheap materials. The bluetooth module "Blinc" works pretty well as a phone headset, if you don't mind it being mono. The music sound quality sucks.

Oh well it was worth a try.

Sometimes it's worth spending a little more money on stuff like this.

    I still love my setup!

the scala rider multi set q2 is totally worth every dollar.
i've tried it on 2 different helmets Shoei RF 1000 and HJC (forget the model #) - works great with a second rider upto 500-600 yards via intercom.
switches great between stereo headphone jack to ipod + bluetooth phone calls + fm/am radio + intercom.

2 very sleek speakers (low profile and my ears dont' touch em in either helmet.).

doing 70-75 - and could still hear the other person very clearly.
music quality (stereo via headphone jack) @ 70 was still clear and loud.

the mic clears both helmets and my lips do not touch the mic.

would recommend this set to anyone who is looking for a similar solution!

I just bought 2 BlueAnt Interphone F4 systems, one for me and one for the gf. So far so good, stereo speakers that pair up to my iPhone with no problems, and also can use the intercom between the 2 units. Very impressed so far, and the sound quality is great.

i too am debating either chatterbox or scala because the gf wants a bike now... for her riding on the back of my bike we bought a cheap $9 wired set off ebay. it came with a box, 2 speaker/mic combo pieces and a cord to add aux so we can both listen to music etc. using the speaker in my phone and setting it to autoanswer sounded like a great idea and i could hear when someone called but they could never hear me so it didnt work out so well...

for the time being im just using earbuds and listening to music and ignoring anyone that wants to talk to me... lol

I'm wanting one of these. But I have a question. Is it like a headset, so it could be used out of the helmet? Or does it actually attach to it?

Edit: by 'these' I mean the scala rider q2.

    arrived in 8 days

    well tried and tested

the blue tooth device looks almost identical to the Scala rider
both the Scala rider and the device i brought fit on the same cradle and work

the cradle it self functions the same way as the Scala rider but is a little different visual
materials used look good but i would say on the cheaper side than the Scala rider
but none the less still very good
the Mic is longer than the Scala rider that allows better mounting to the helmet

All buttons on the device function exactly the same as the Scala rider
not tested on the bike but Ive paired it to my sat nav and sound quality is good
has 2 speakers compared to the 1 on my Scala rider

Paired it to the other device left my eldest in the garden and i went for a walk
again sound quality was good and range was good
i did not walk that far but i would say a good 250 yards and all was OK
this was in a built up area

built in radio works well but a bit of a gimmick if you ask me
had to use car radio to make sure i was on the station i wanted as there is no way of knowing what station your on

at the end of the day Ive not brought it for the intercom function but its a nice bonus
my Scala rider gave up after 2 years and this is a much cheaper option
i could not of got 1 Scala rider for the price Ive paid for this
only time will tell how long it lasts
but well worth it if you ask me
