Biker alleges Dallas Sheriff Deputy made up charge to seize video evidence (RAW) - YouTube
Personally I think anyone that hides their license plate deserves a ticket, but this is another case of a loser cop on a power trip.

Nah all those guys deserve to go to the clink. I used to ride dallas all the time tons of good riding and if you wanna get stupid theres a abundance of awesome country roads to do what ever you want on (ask me how I know). Those guys are idiots endangering everyone around them lock em all up, morons. More balls than brains is dangerous. Watch the dashboard vid from the cop car.
Rider copped an attitude off the get go..May have got away with a ticket if he wasnt a douche

Yeah watching both vids, from their and the cops perspective: bunch of ******** that do not deserve the PRIVILEGE of driving in this country, if only there woulda been a way to setup a full road block and start passing out tickets for being dicks.
Meh, the dash cam shows a lot of idiots pulling stupid crap, but those idiots are the ones who should be getting arrested. The guy filming is complete abiding by the law, and was probably specifically trying not to get pulled over. I understand why the cop was frustrated, but that is no excuse to treat the biker like that and fish for an arrest to get his video.
If a rider in your group was acting stupid and you got it on video, would you mind if the cop made something up and arrested YOU to get it?
I think in law, they call this the poison fruit of the poison tree. The video is out b/c of how it was entered into evidence.
After seeing some video from the 2010 ride it looks like there's a number of asshats that need to be arrested, but it doesn't look like this guy was doing anything wrong other than copping an attitude and that's no reason to arrest someone. Certainly makes it more likely to get a ticket, but the arrest is an abuse of power, even if it's legal.
I still say if the rider kept his mouth shut and was respectful the outcome probably wouldve been a lot different. Bogus what he got pulled over for but from the point the lights came on he did everything wrong except try to outrun the cop..

I think if the cop would have said something like "Sorry to have to bother you, but did you catch 'thus and such' on your web cam? We just saw something go down and need help apprehending the perps." it would have gone down a lot differently too. I just read about this on a non-motorcycle group and turns out they can't seem to find the video from that cop's dashcam. But another cop did catch what appears to be a drug passoff out of the bed of a pickup truck and that's what I think they were trying to get video of. All too often cops assume everyone is an a-hole and act accordingly....which leaves us to assume that they are a-holes. Vicious circle that is solved by being polite and or respectful.
About a year ago, a group of stunters successfully blocked off (in the middle of the afternoon), a huge expressway in central Dallas. They then proceeded to put on a show in honor of one of their fallen buddies, who died a year ago. This was obviously a huge public-relations, black-eye for the Dallas PD. They've been on a mission ever since to reign these guys in. In my mind, if you're going to ride with these guys, you'd better be prepared for some special treatment from Dallas' finest. ,BK
'08 CRF230, '07 SV650,
After watching both vids....I wouldn't say he was being 'nazi' but he was a dumb@$$ for pulling over the WRONG biker. I'd love to find out how this ends in court.
While I do not believe that the officer could arbitrarily seize the video for evidence, this guy did everything he could to antagonize the officer. Bad attitude + pissed off cop = free ride to jail and impounded bike. It doesn't matter if charges are dropped later, you're still out a bunch of cash to get the bike out of impound, bail money, time off work, etc.
Any time I see a pack of bikes like that on the freeway, I do my best to get away from them, because if they've attracted the eye of local LE, the one who actually pulls over is the one who gets boned.
