    EX650r Streetfighter conversion

Hey peoples, Ive been around lurking for a while a thought I'd share the progress on my 650r streetfighterr conversion. Ive been working on it for a while and most of my progress can be seen on custom fighters ( Grymm's ER-somthing... - Custom Fighters - Custom Streetfighter Motorcycle Forum ).

    Once upon a time...

    tearing down...

    Some choppy choppy...

New front end, SRAD 750 USDs (needs custom yokes)

But looks good on mock up

    BYe Bye...

    HELLO!!

New tail unit sitting on top of the subframe. subbie is long gone but this is for size comparison, note the new seat unit fits INSIDE the old subframe, much smaller.

Seat lines match the tank pretty well IMO.

Lots of grinding, measuring, grinding some more and swearing a bit I got this to happen

Just about current progress. A little mock up to see the parts coming together.

Ill be sorting out the front end conversion over the next couple months (need $$$ for custom machining...) then the rear suspension will be finalized and the subframe build will start. Any ideas? concerns? tell me to **** off? Let me hear em!!

LOL way beyond anything I'd know how to do... looks sweet though!

Are you sure you'll have enough motor for what you're doing?

Thanks!! By the time I'm done only the motor and tank will be untouched.

Not worried about motor and power really, the bike isnt meant to be a monster, just a fun around town hooligan. But, with all the stuff I've chopped I'll end up more than a few pounds lighter so free power for me!!

Looks like a nice project. Can't wait to see the finished result.

What about something with a face ?

Havent given up on this just still accumulating parts. Got a xz7 rear wheel and it loks nice in the swinger but its a 6" wheel and Im not certain I can make it fir without chain drive issues so I got ahold of a 675r rear wheel (for a mere $50 shipped with a wave rotor AND the sprocket/carrier!!!) and it look pretty good so far. (Pics soon I promise!)

Some of those mask style headlights look good for sure. Still thinking about the four eyed one I posted. Theres also a two eyed version of the same fairing with bigger holes for standard projectors instead of the mini projectors in the four eyed model.

Vrod has a good looking light on it. Ive been shooting for something with a small flyscreen to tuck my gauges (trailtech Vapor) behind when I get the damn front end figured out.... Just need to get the $$$ for the yokes to be machined and I can fit the whole Gixxer front end using the 650r stem and bearings. Just $$$...

That being said, anyone reading this thread that needs any 650r parts hit me up and ask. Im not posting anything on the for sale area but Ill hook people up for their projects if they need something I've taken off/replaced and itll help me finish this beast.

So... no real progress yet. I did get a real quote for the yokes though, $500 for custom upper and lower mated to my stock stem, not bad at all. Now I just need $$$...

Meanwhile I snagged a couple rear wheels to see what I liked the

ZX-7 wheel. Looks nice and wide

ALso snagged a nice cush drive with a practicaly new vortex sprocket. SCORE!

I also managed to STEAL this daytona 675 rear wheel with sprocket and a nice slotted wave rotor (which I dont seem to have a pic of... will fix later)

I like the ZX-7 wheel and itll match the GSXR 750 front wheel better but its a real pain in the *** to align the wheel and the swinger and the chain for that... The daytona wheel is a direct bolt in for the swinger and the brakes will also be a match (the ZX_7 wheel will need custom caliper bracket made if I go that route) decisions decisions

Not much progress since Im still figuring oput the front end, BUT... I made a buddy on another bike forum for street fighters and I maybe, just might just have a 2004 636 full front end I can bolt on to continue building (and maybe riding if I get enough done). Hopefully I can pull it off and keep building. Cross fingers for me guys!! maybe more progress soon!!

The rotor is an OEM unit that has been lightened (less rotating mass). Most guys who ride track or race don't use the rear brake as often or at all compared to ppl who ride on the street. The amount that the rotor wears is a bit faster. All in all, at the track the positives outweigh the negatives with a lightweight rotor.
