    Lowering front end

Alright...I've tried searching for it on this forum and google, maybe I'm adding a crossed 't' or dotted 'i' when I'm not supposed to...

I'm trying to find out how to lower the front suspension on my 09'. I'm hearing all the measurements needed for it but no actual procedure to do it.

    Any help would be appreciated.

Haven't done it but I hear there are several methods.

This is the only method I can recall from memory:

Put the bike up on a rear stand and triple tree stand.
Put a floor jack under the front tire.
Loosen the bolts clamping the triple tree to the forks.
Jack up front tire until desired amount of fork tubes is extending above the triple trees.
Measure how much is extending on both tubes and make sure it is even.
    Tighten down bolts.
    Take bike off stands.
    You're done.

The other method I've read involves getting a buddy to help you hold up the bike while you loosen the triple tree bolts just enough to "walk" the bike down the forks a little. I don't fully remember the procedure to do this without dropping the bike though.

More simpler than what unL33T posted, also if you don't have a rear stand

Follow these direction's, scroll down to page 5 and 6. Shows you exactlly how to do it safely, one side at a time.

This method worked great for lowering the front on mine.

This looks easy per that pdf. Would this only be done in conjunction with the rear, or is there some benefit to lowering just the front? How does it change the handling characteristics?
