Just take off the lower right side fairing, it's like 4 phillips screws, can get to them with a stubby screwdriver. Also, personally I stick with motorcycle oil, I've heard of people using diesel oil, but regular auto engine oil, especially a conventional oil, I'd stay away from. Conventional oil breaks down easily in high heat, and these bikes do get hot enough to cook it.

Also on amazon you can buy a complete Kawasaki oil change kit that has 3qts of kawasaki 10w40 oil, oem filter, and oem crush washer for like $36 shipped. Thats what I did, cheaper than the dealer.

Sunwave, What year is your bike. Looks newer than a 2012. We can most likely find you a manual to help with oil changes.

Always use synthetic 10-40 mcycle oil and a K and N filter.Engine purrs like a kitten. My 2 cents.

May want to make a new thread for yourself on this, but did your friend check the oil with the bike on his kickstand? He may have overfilled it and the excess oil is venting into the intake and burning off there.
