nut wells suck!!
"that's what she said" jokes aside, is anyone else having problems with their rubber nut wells breaking all the time? Maybe it's just the age of my '07, but every time I take the farings apart, at least one more breaks. And they are kinda expensive to replace from everywhere I've looked. Am I just over tightening the bolts or what?
oh and why does it cost so much to ship oem parts? $10 for a few parts that weigh all of 2 oz??

I had the same problem with the stock well nuts. I was just tightening them to much.

Yea, I've had to replace a couple. They are a rubber part and will fail after some time; and your bike is now 5 years old. I ordered a few spares with a larger parts order a couple years ago to avoid a shipping charge that's greater than the part. Check this out:

Ha I just had to deal with these pain in the *** well nuts a few days ago when I put on my Sport Bars. Definitely one or two broken in my windshield and fairings. Anyone interested in splitting a set?, because I don't need 25 and would rather not pay the whole 17$.

try going here... 50 cents a piece and you can order as many or as few as you want. | Specialty metric screws for your motorcycle as well as Fuel, Lube, and Air filters for your car or truck.
I found this in the comment section of the link that Tomm posted.

Excellent leads on well nuts!!! Just went to the dealer today thinking, "ok, I'll pay a little more but I'll have'em." I mean having seen what these things are and figuring they must have a fairly high failure rate after a few years I thought for sure they'd have bunches of them....they had to order them... 5 - 7 days...lol

Gonna save you guys quite a bit of hassle. They sell these at hardware stores, I got some at my local ACE Hardware, 88 cents a piece. They weren't called well nuts though, they are called expansion nuts. They didnt have metric, but the #10-32 fit perfectly fine.

Not to call BS, but my 07 is 5 years old and the only ones I've had to replace were ones that I lost. They normally hold up very well unless you overtighten them, deforming and cracking them. It would take a loooong time for them to disintegrate from being old given the application.
