I have an 09 650R and can't for the life of me change the preload adjustment at the rear. I have the wrench thing that came with the underseat toolkit but it won't move at all. Whats the trick and what am I missing???

I have an 09 650R and can't for the life of me change the preload adjustment at the rear. I have the wrench thing that came with the underseat toolkit but it won't move at all. Whats the trick and what am I missing???

It rotates in both directions, have you tried that?

I pull up to adjust. Yes it will move both directions but is easier to just pull up to where you want it to go. I had trouble the first time I adjusted the preload. You just need to pull harder. It feels like I will lift the rear tire off the ground when I adjust.

Could also just use a tube to get leverage. If i ever need leverage i just pull off the handle on my vortex rear stand and use that over the wrench handle and works every time.
The tool kit that comes with the bike has a open handle you can slide the preload adjustment tool into which will eliminate the need of wearing a glove or finding another pipe to use as leverage.
