Yeah this kit really helps out a lot. Especially when I had to do no modifications to the headlamp itself other than opening it. This kit makes it an easy DIY mod.

I was against blacking it out but found some flat black spray paint for plastics and gave it a shot. Turned out better than I thought.

With the 09, the wiring is easy. There is no need for a switch, unless you want some fancy setup. This is the setup I did.
    - You just wire the low beam wires from the kit to the low beam connector from the bike. You do the same for the high beams. For the angel eyes, just wire them to the always on caution lights. The angel eyes are always on and the low beams come on when I hit the startup button.

Hey cefoskey, where did you mount the ballast?

Oh man, those are all awesome headlight modifications! I actually like the '09 the most, because the headlights are farther apart. Either way, this makes me want to spring for this upgrade some day. I'm sorry if I missed it in a previous post, but where did you get the parts for this?

My ballasts and wiring all ended up in the folds of the fairings on both sides. There was a lot of room in the catalyst fiberglass.

After thinking about it, i thought about what I said when i said that it was easy. It was easy but some people may think that taking the headlights apart is the hardest part. It wasn't. Using the oven and a hair dryer, it came off easily. The 09 headlamp lenses are actually 2 pieces.

I got my kit off of ebay from a guy in asia for $185. He offers a 18 month warranty which to me is comparable to the same kit offered by people in the US for $350+ with a 1-2 yr warranty. Search for Bi-xenon projector HID CONVERSION KIT on ebay.

$185! did your kit include ballasts or something? Mine was on there for $89, to which I purchased a standard HID kit with ballasts, ignitors, and standard bulbs for $49.

The whole complete kit with ultra slim ballast and bulb.

    awesome thread revived

[QUOTE=cefoskey;560781]if you bought the same kit as this, they dont fit without some pretty serious housing modification/trimming on the 06-08s. Not sure about room on the 09s.[QUOTE]

    Cefoskey,
When you refer to housing modification/trimming are you referring to the projector housing or the reflector?
I purchased what I believe to be the same kit you have, but I don't quite see an avenue to modify either the projector housing or the reflector to make it fit.
    What am I missing?
    Thanks,
    Lee

If you bake the headlamp housing and get it apart, the projectors may just barely fit in place of the original bulbs. You have to screw the reflector adjustments all the way in to get them to fit in there. I had to trim the back of the reflector to extend the range of the adjusters so they would fit inside the lens.

You shouldnt need to alter the projectors themselves.
