I saw a chart at some point that listed a bunch of exhausts and their rated decibel level, but I can't seem to find it anymore. What's a suitable upgrade to the stock exhaust that won't **** off everyone in my apartment complex?

I have V&H straight shots on mine. I wanted the same sound you're looking for. I took the stock baffle out and replaced with a non-straight through fiberglass wrapped baffle:
Vance & Hines Straightshots Replacement Baffle - Cruiser Motorcycle - Motorcycle Superstore Its the top baffle in the pic.
These were WAY too quiet, maybe a little louder than stock. So I took the cutting wheel to them and cut the capped end off, but left the fiberglass wrap. It sounds great now, at idle its tame but noticeable and under throttle its very aggressive. I'm sure that you would get similar results with any brand pipe and a baffle that was modded like this.
Non Motorcyclist people tell me my BUB jugg Huggers are not obnoxious. They tell me they are actually louder at idle than they are at 2000 RPMs as I roll away from them. Of course they do bark at 5000 RPMs.
I believe it is better to be seen than to be heard. Remember, they give out licenses to deaf people, but not blind people.
Hi Viz and Lights are better than loud pipes.
You can always just de-baffle your stock exhaust. Takes about 20 minutes and has a great sound afterwards.![]()
my friends bubs set off car alarms down town. When I had drilled stock pipes they were still very quiet IMO

I agree. I tried drilling my stock exhaust first. A little better, but not near enough. So I followed the tutorial and grabbed a 1 3/4" hole saw and about 15 minutes later had a much nicer sounding exhaust and retained the stock look.
All that said and done however.......Bub JH's are on my short list.![]()
I was thinking about taking the baffle out of my stock pipes as well. Where can I find the tutorial that you used?
the muzzy 2 into 1 with the baffle in is very mellow until you get on it hard. I can ease in and out of the subdivision at 5:00 am with no complaints, and my neighbors would let me know if it bothered them.
2007 SE. Muzzy 2into1 exhaust, tornado intake, PC3, Custom sidemount w/ radiatnz led frame, clear alternatives integrated tailight, 1.25" bars, HEL black braided brake/clutch lines, iso grips with stilleto ends, corbin young guns/ dual tour seats, custom dynamics wrap around front turn signals. Lots of powder coated parts, Progressive front springs with 12.5 wt fork oil , and progressive 440 12.5" rear shocks.
Did it years ago, don't know where the tutoral is anymore. Basically you need a hole saw I think it was 2 1/4 inch( just measure inside the chrome) Get a dowel or just cut a piece off the end of a broom handle. Put that in a vise and using the hole saw, drill the center bit into the dowel, you don't have to go all the way in with the bit, it's just to locate the outer teeth of the bit, and keep it centered while you drill. Slide it into the hole in the muffler and the hole saw should land just inside the chrome and start drilling. If you already drilled holes around the edges this should go fast. Make sure the hole saw you use is for metal, not wood, or it will take a looong time and smoke your drill. Don't ask how I know that. Once you cut through that back plate grab a pair of pliers and twist it out of the way or off if you can get it. Then grab that center hole, thats actually the end of the baffle and just twist it back and forth till it brakes loose at the front and pull it out and you are done. Should look like this when you are done.
I also gutted the cat at the same time so i don't know how much of a difference that makes. You can hear the bike coming now but not as loud as new pipes.

Like the performance and sound of my Cobra 2 into 1 system....looks good too !
My Bub JH are not what I would consider quiet at all. I do have the baffles in but quiet is not what they are. My friend has V&h bigshots and his are slightly louder than mine but not by much.
