oil consumption

i have had an oil consumption problem for a while now and it is driving me nuts. The compression on each cyl is in spec. 80 psi front and rear. it will use 1/3 of a qt. in about 300 miles. No smoke ( oil smoke ). The rear left spark plug looks like a run fat condition. So i got thinking that maybe the oil drain back screens are blocked off and not letting the oil drain back well enough and oil is getting sucked though the intake valve guide from being flooded with oil , so i changed the oil to a cheap dino oil with a cheapo filter. I added 2/3 of a qt of MMO and filled the rest of the way with oil. Now after about 150 miles all the plugs look great ( all the same dark grey ) and have not used any oil. So i am thinking this wonderful snake oil ( Marvel Mystery Oil ) may have cleaned out the oil return screens

Are you certain this is not attributed to the change of PC3 Map?

nope even with the map i am using , it went through about 1/3 qt. of oil in about 250 miles or so. Only have rode about 150 miles give or take since the MMO, all looks good. Time will tell

I can't think of how the map would have any effect on oil consumption.

plug really wasn't fouled, just was very dark and a little wet. we will see how it all goes in a few weeks of riding.

No, the MAP had nothing to do with it. He ran a good dose of MMO in the crankcase and that seems to have done it.
