i like the ride on 2 or 3 a little better but the marauder has a bracket that holds the tail light on that hits the tire when i hit a large bump. I did some grinding on the bracket and it seems ok now but not sure if the shocks are bottoming out with it set on #2.

    I think I have mine on #2. I'm 170lbs.
It rocks pretty good hitting a bump in a bit too high speed... but I need it soft for my back.

im 180 lbs also. I believe the max is #5 right, or is it #6? if the max is 5 then im on 4 , if its 6 then im on 5, any lesser setting and the bike feels like it bottoms out pretty hard on bumps. I was thinking of actually going to the max for my next ride. When I ride with my girl (120 lbs) bumps are torture. im sure for people on smoother roads are fine with them but iv Had the VTX shocks on for about a yr and im not really a fan of them. Im sure the horrible NY pothole ridden roads arent helping their case. I have a few maintenance upgrades to do to the bike first but after that I think im going to go with a set of progressives.

i would like a set of progressives as well, but a little pricey for me. the roads here in Ohio are not that good either, pot holes, bumps everywhere. Keeping mine on two for now we will see how it goes.

Best bet is to leave them set as they came off my bike... I am about 270. Should be good for you....

its one of those things that you just have to feel out the best setting for you, start low go for a ride and adjust until you find the right setting. they are pretty easy to adjust. I just use a pair of work gloves with rubber palms grab the top cylinder and twist. throw some muscle into it and you should be able to get it to the next setting with one or two tries.

Yea thats the only problem, but with 3 herniated disc's in my back it might just be worth it for me

Your a beast, glad it hasnt stopped you from riding. especially since you had the surgery 14 yrs ago. my back doctor told me that these kind of surgerys have a low success rate and the older techniques had even lower success, so you are definitely a lucky one. I dont think id have the OO's to get spinal surgery, ive broken over 10 bones through my reckless years and they have all healed rather well on there own except the TWO that I allowed the doctors convince me I needed surgery to fix. those hurt constantly and have horrible range of motion. no more surgeries for me.

not fun for sure, i had no choice, i could not walk more than 10 ft with out collapsing. my doc. told me that he gave it about 80% to be good for two years. long story short, i was the 20%, had the 2nd surgery 7 months after the first, that was a bad year for sure. I still have bad days but all is well most of the time. What makes it worse is that i drive truck ( big rigs ) for a living, running about 550-600 miles (12-14 ) each day. I had three sets of three epidural steroid injections b/4 going for the knife, those did nothing but put me in a bad mood.. Anyway hope you get yours under control, they have new ways of doing things now, i am sure it would be much better. fwiw i did not have anything fused, that really limits the range of motion.
