    pistol storage (concealed holster)

Let me first say that I have no interest in this (wife, kid, and two dogs... not exactly living the "Sons of Anarchy" lifestyle), but I was wondering if anyone has a concealed holster-location on their bike.

I guess it would make the most sense to carry with a shoulder holster, but a buddy of mine said his uncle (or was it he swears his uncle's buddy's roommate) had an easy to get to place on his bike that held his pistol. I can not imagine where that would be... but I don't have much imagination - I can take other people's ideas and refine them... but little imagination of my own.

The Hot Box would be a place similarily like a lockable glove box in an automobile of ore. I think it would be big enuf to conceal a JUDGE, 1911 Colt .45,Glock .38 cal 2" revolver.
Nowadays most glove boxes are not locked unless you have a much more luxorious version .

As for concealed/carry. If one has the license, enuf said. Shoulder holster, side strap holster, ankle holster, etc.
Otherwise if one has the side saddlebags would be the only other place I would think one could store such a device without risk of fallen out and ending up in maybe the wrong responsible hands.

I carry my .38 with an "inside the pants" holster. Goes inside my waistband.

Better be unloaded with ammo and gun stored separately if you dont have a ccw permit.

OK, so no real "home-brew" type of things out there. I would figure carrying it on the body would make the most sense anyway. Not sure why you would stash it somewhere anyway.

    Tank bag for me.
It makes me too nervous to think about falling/sliding on metal should I crash... freakin OUCH.
Although, I do carry IWB on occasion. Just make sure your holster has good retention.

As far as a shoulder holster goes, well, when you get to a destination and wanna take your jacket off, what then?

Exactly my thought. Having it out of reach defeats the timing. Reaching for it can cost a life. Also, what if someone hijacks the bike under gunpoint? I also carry in a small holster inside the waistband.

I use one of these: http://www.cabelas.com/holsters-belt...:referralID=NA

I personally would not want to "hide" one anywhere on my bike. As others have said, I keep mine on my body.

Concealed is concealed no matter if it's on your person, bag, glove box, on seat under a towel, etc...Better have a CCW
I carry full frame and carry sized on my person. No sense having it tucked away where you are not able to have access in a matter of seconds..

Here's a legal question..Im SOME states, the Castle Doctrine extends to your vehicle..Does this include a motorcycle?? Have not seen any legal termonology the calls out the legal definition of "Vehicle" in this context.

I know here in Iowa concealed carry does not apply to a vehicle. You can keep the firearm in your vehicle as long as you are in there. If you were to stop somewhere you could not leave the firearm with the vehicle. I'm interested to hear what people say in this thread as well. I currently carry on my person with no exceptions. I've done it for so long I feel lost if its not there. I would like to be able to have a place to put it on the bike though on some longer rides. I hand make and sell holsters and othe leather products so I'd be interested in hearing if someone has good idea on where to put one. that would give me something to do this weekend while it RAINING!!

I gues I can agree somewhat , however , Probable cause for a search into a sealed compartment must be first and foremost without just an idea for search and seizure. Protected under 4 th ammendmnet of so far our U.S. constitution. Secondly, not trying to pick a fight with Deputy, but how many cycles have you stopped in your tenure as a lawman to have such reasonable suspicion and fear of your safety that you have actually made that search and seizure for a firearm without a valid Carry & Concealed ? Curious about your percentages. Motorcycle and an automeobile would both qualify as an exigent circumstance to reasonable suspicions and probable cause for search and seizure out here in AH's Land. So if your going to carry better have the credentials and like they say " You don't start none, they ain't going to be none" .
I do not carry by the way.. Peaceful guy that uses 911 when I see the one's starting the s*** t, and then get out of the way for the one's that get paid dealing with it. Unless in my own house, then that is a differnt set of circumstances, but, that is not what the thread is about.

colorado is an open carry state. plus, here, your vehicle is and extension of your home. so if you wanted you could have it sittin on the passenger seat next to ya. or open carry on your hip in public with no license what-so-ever.
drof99- i would probably go with something to mount on the trees/ bars location. could be cool if it was concealed but could be busted into in a hurry. oh and have it fit right between the bars so that you could address it with either hand. and it wouldn't muzzle anyone that way, and probably go with the lines of the bike better. all these ideas are patented by yours truly as of now. haha. so if i see it on your bike, you had better send me one too!!

Considering Iowa just turned to a Shall Carry state, it will be interesting to see how the legislation goes this year. To go from a May Carry state to the carry rights they allow right now is about as bold as anything I've seen in a long time. I was worried when I saw they didnt grant out of state permits until I read IA honors valid permits from other states.

FYI, I might be riding up there next week if you want to meet up say, in Indianola or Winterset, or Des Moines

Alaska went to a no permit required status for concealed or open carry so the legalities just dont apply here any more....

I'd have to go dig out the parts, but if you have moved your intake to the right side, seems you could put a hinge and latch on the stock left side air filter cover, mount a holster inside it... Might work.
