My ideas come from needing something useful to me and then I plot, plan and draw it out from there looking for ways to make it as practical as possible as well as where to mount it and then making the item as clean as I can.

Heck. Start by looking through the pics thread and take what you want from other peoples ideas. Make it a mix and match of what you want your bike to look like or how you want it to function.

Well, IMO, mods come from at least one of four desires:

Comfort: Make it more comfortable for whatever type of riding you do. This would include risers, saddles, shields, grips, etc.

Convenience: This may not be the proper word, but I'm referring more to daily use of it. The Meanie isn't really the right bike for this, but can meet the needs. Things such as an increased fuel capacity, storage bags (saddle, fork, etc) would fall under this area.

Style: Here's the most common for Meanies. Anything you want to do to your bike to make it look better. Might add functionality, but not always. Chrome, custom paint, aftermarket mirrors or rims, etc.

Performance: This is probably the second most common on the Meanie. IMO, she has enough juice. But, some people will want to make it go faster, handle better, etc. So, things like intakes, fuel processor, stiffer shocks, etc.

So, just choose what's most important to you and look from there. There are people on here with lots of ideas and there are a lot of aftermarket products out there for our scoots.

For instance, you can see a list of what I have done below. All of my next mods will be purely cosmetic. Cleaning up the rear fender (remove light, at LED setup), new front fender with spoiler, paint job, pinstripe, etc. Best of luck!

Beside performance (can always use more right???), my plan was to decide what kind of look I wanted, then try to keep to that theme. I wanted the "streetfighter" look, so there is minimal chrome, dual headlight, ceramic coated pipes. Had the fork tubes anodized gold, added some new rotors, SS lines etc. Put a big honking K&N open top filter on the Tornado airkit,
you get the picture. Find a style you like and then make your own tweaks to personalize it.
    good luck

I like to look on the web and see some custom mean streaks and what parts are out there for the mean streak. I also like to look at a bunch different types of custom bikes and choppers and pick and choose to try and make mine unique. Still have a huge list of mods yet to go if I end up being able to keep mine.

I don't do mods for appearance. You don't see them while you're riding, just when you're poseing. I do have bags and a rack. I'd like to not have the bags but they're awfull handy.

Tom, Nice Rack!!!! (never thought I'd say that to a man.)

Did you custom make that and is it removable??? Are your baggs attached to it?

The rack attaches to the bag mounts so it comes off to allow a passenger seat. It's made of 5/8" square .028" wall 4130 tube and powder coated. I fabbed the bag mounts and rack because I couldn't find anything I liked.

What bags are those? They look like a nice low profile option.
