I, too, noticed the Versys on Kawi's site this week. Not sure if that means it's coming to the US, but they usually omit bikes from their site if they aren't coming to America. Would love to see one in person if and when they do get here.

You will be impressed with this bike. I have been fighting with myself about trading the Z1000 for it for months now.

I too saw the US Kawi site, and does indeed look like our friends to the south will be getting their own VS. I, however do not like that red on this bike at all.

Its official, its a USA model too!! I am not sure why I am drawn to this bike, but I am. The "first ride" test in Cycle World is a good one, they can not say enough about the bike..they love it.

I have been so tempted to change my riding style for most of this season, I love my ZRX but I would like to have something that is just fun to ride. Sure the ZRX is a great bike and fun to ride, but I am always tapping into the power, and twisties and well you know. I wonder if you could put a dual sport tire on it (like the Buell Ulysses) and do some light (very light) trail riding?

Its been along time since a bike moved me like this, thing is, I don't even know why I like it.

I know the feeling. I keep looking at the new BMW K1200R Sport, a bike that's fairly similar to my VFR. Good thing I can't afford a new bike!

I still like the looks of the Versys, but honestly I can't see it being a big seller in the USA. Cool & versatile middleweight bikes just don't sell as well here.

I think that this one may catch on. The Wee-Strom has been a good seller for the past few years. I personally am glad that the Versys is coming to the US. With the strong Canadian dollar at the moment, I may be able to import one for much less than they cost here.

Just talked to my US dealer...

My local US dealer said they expect it in the showroom in Sep/Oct -- didn't have a lot more to say other than that. I like the bike and want one -- would use it for light a/t off the superslabs and interstates. Looks like Givi makes decent looking hard saddlebags and their typical top case for it (as well as a tall shield).

Wish silver color was coming to USA but can live with the red as depicted on kawasaki.com. Another thing to note -- a UK owner reported vibration around 3k rpm -- not sure if it was a one-off issue or something more widespread. Also wondering if my 30.5" inseam is going to be on the short side for this bike.

Other than those nits, I really really like the concept of this bike -- seating position, suspension tune, the parallel twin, underslung exhaust -- had been thinking about picking up a used silver 650r but the old school Ninja looks just haven't been doing it for me. Kawi Motostrada/Kawi Wee-strom look is very cool.

Saw one at Carlisle yesterday. That is one goofy looking bike, even in person. I wonder if the increased suspension travel would have any ill effects for a street ridden 650r? Because I would love to have more adjustment/ tuning ability on my Ninja. The suspension also appears to be the Versys best feature, especially as it's engine has been detuned.

I'm going to add a Versys section to the forum now that it's coming to the U.S. for '08. I think it's going to be a cool bike, that segment of the market continues to grow and it seems all of the manufacturers are getting into it. I know the motor is solid from experience with the 650R, so it should be a fun bike to put through the paces, hop a few curbs, etc. I suspect it will be fun bike to wheelie as well!

we've had a Versys at my place of work for about 3 weeks now. Had plenty of people come to look at it, but most find it sits pretty high and don't like that.

Oh, and Versys stands for "versatile system".

What is the purpose of the Versys (or the Vstrom)? To me, the Vstrom looks to be a lighweight dual-sport, whereas the Versys looks like it is really not meant to be taken off road.
