gg padded up for around Oz trip + Pics

    Hi all,

Here is gg padded up and ready to for the rounda Oz trip, The Pics were taken last weekend, when I did a trial ride fully loaded.

The trip is planned to take 2 months and say 20,000kms (12,000miles for the unconverted), I start tomorrow and ride clockwise making for Perth across New South Wales and South Australia and will meet up with Jessica at Perth, we intend to do some local riding there.

Taking my trusty digicamera and will keep contact with zr7 when and where I can, not many internet cafes in the desert.

    Hope you like the Pics

This trip has taken a lot of planning, some things like attaching the gear has been done and redone manytimes to make it safe, secure and simple. I am fully self contained, of course limited by fuel, water and food. I want 420km (250miles) from a tank of gas, no extra fuel taken.

Weather looking great all the way now, temps are dropping and the wet season is over in the North.

    Hi Z grand and 'peper

I will be watching for those errant roos. I do have a shoo roo mounted on the bike, it is a glorified whistle, the wind blowing throught it supposed to emit a high which noise to scare the creatures of the road....h'mmm

That cheese cloth cover the oil cooler is to protect it from errant bugs. Just at the moment we are having a plague of grass hoppers out west at the moment, I have ridden through them before, not a nice situation if you like a clean helmet visor.

I don't ride hard or fast so hoping that the fairly wide meshed cheese cloth doesn't effect oil cooling too much. Early KZ engines didn't have an oil cooler.

    founda Oz Map

let's see if this map is available, I ride down from Sth of Brisbane towards Sydney and then travel west across Oz to Perth.

Cogla, my mate advised me to turn left and ride to Esperance instead of turining right, maybe he was telling me to keep away from the streets of disrepute in Kalgoolie.

If I missed your first day off, let me squeeze in my well wishes for a great trip.

You look grand on your ZR, Mr. Gould. Let me say, too, that I'm proud just to converse on the same forum you frequent. You are an inspiration, and though we've never met in person, a good friend.

20000 Km an 2 months on the ZR. What can I say? Have a great trip, Graeme, and may God be with you.
