    Graeme,
Please remind us how many kilometers you covered on this trans-continental express. Also, how many days were you gone for. On my recent tour of Gaspé, I met a group of riders who were on a guided tour of the region. Essentially, they were being "guided" through the region by an experienced rider who knew where to go, where to camp, etc..

    a quick reply

5 weeks and just over 15,000kms, had planned to do another week and a couple of thousand more kms, however trip to Thailand was pressing.

Will do the part I missed in Northern Queensland next year?

I would like to be a "motorcycle escort", one would have to be very tolerant and patient as there are so many contingencies on a trip like this, I think I was well planned, but sufficiently flexible for any encounters.

gg@Lamchabang, more time tomorrow at bangkok

I hereby volunteer as partner in this escort venture ... I'll handle the German-speaking members of the party (Germans looooooove Oz). Seems a pity to waste a year's practice otherwise.
    2000 ZR-7 (red, faster)
2002 Royal Enfield Bullet 500 (black, definitely slower) ... yep still got 'em both

    International escorts now available

This escorting seems to be popular occupation, Andre has offered escort services around Sou/West Canada, now multi lingual Scottmac is offering his and I am constantly reading in some papers that escourts are available, never followed them up, maybe gg could earn a few dollars on the side with his ZR7? h'mmmm

What am I doing? Just bumping up this thread again! It was so much fun to read the stories and look at the pictures. It deserves being revived.

Thanks every so much for the pics and stories to match GG. I really enjoyed them. A friend who stays in Perth (beside Jessica) says that I really should come out and visit. Hmmm . . . maybe one day!

A mate and I went over to Europe for my 60th – we travelled through 8 countries and clocked up over 2000 miles in 10 days. Bloody brilliant it was!

Anyway, keep well and drive safely.
