    ZR7 Fuel tank

Hi all, I have just bought a 2001 ZR7 and realised there is rust in the tank when filling her up, I have cleaned the tank and now it is leaking!! I have found a new tank for sale but it is for a 2003 ZR7S does anyone know if this will fit? Thanks in advance for your replies. Simon.

Had similar problem a few years ago when mine developed a leak at the seam on left side. Tried product called Creem Tank Liner. Eventually had to get a tank, bright yellow on Lightning Blue bike for 3 months, had to get a paint job quick. Just wondering where did your tank leak? As shOrtlife said, tanks were all the same, til they went to the Z750S.

Mine has started leaking at the seam on the right hand side I considered using a tank liner but read lots of different reports mostly unsucessful so decided to go for a new tank found one for £260.

I used the Kreem tank sealer several years ago on a honda nighthawk tank that had sprung a leak at a seam. After treatment I had the bike a couple more years with no leaks at all. Saved some $$ on not having to find a purchase a tank for it.

better to get a tank now while you still CAN..than hope the seal hold only to find yourself down the road unable to get a replacemwent

those sealers were never really designed to be used with a rusted tank but actualy made to be used on a new or clean rust free tank to seal up welds etc....can you seal a rusted tank..sure but generaly the washing out makes things worse....not to mention there is alot of spaces inside a moto tank you cant get at when cleaning..what i mean by this is normaly on a car tank you would drop in a chunk of chain to aid in de-scaleing and rust removeal in the washout series

I did look at all the products out there and watched all those weird and wonderful people on you tube some sucessful and some not, as you say it is better to go for a new tank rather than trying to seal an old one, ordered a new fuel gauge / float for the tank as the old one was a bit rusty, all I have to do is swap out the fuel tap which I have checked and working fine and the fuel cap take off old take and put on new one. Hopefully the tank will be with me tomorrow and going for the swap at the weekend, thanks for all the replies guys, will let you know how I get on.

It is a sentiment that submariners of all navies shared. We had long enjoyed a reputation as nonconformists who hated the monotony of fleet service. We disdained the pomp and circumstance of sideboys, buglers, and holystoned teak quarterdecks. We embraced the hardships of life in a steel tube and the go-it-alone missions that submarines were designed to do. We were a fighting elite, and we knew it.
