    i love Kwaks... ZX9R would average 60mpg @ 80mph to Wales... & the ZR7 averages 55mpg @ 80mph... im assuming if the ZR7 had a full ZX9R fairing... then im sure the ZR7 would easily do 65-70mpg !! :-)

had Suzukis before getting the Kwaks... Suzukis used to average around 35-40mpg !! :-(

I get around 47 with a very heavy hand. My riding buddy is a GXSR600 and we cruise at 80-100 all day. Its a stock Zr7 with 50000 miles

I start getting nervous around 180-200 miles on a full tank and fill it up. I am absolutely not interested in running out of gas and getting stuck on the side of the road. I am not heavy handed for the most part though. I switch gears around 3-4k rpm's. I just have not seen a benefit to taking it above that since the power really drops off at higher rpm's (on my bike). It is all stock as well.

If power drops off after 4K rpm on your bike, you should definitely check it out for problems.
The power should be strong from 4K thru 9K rpms on the zr-7. Most of my riding is done from 4K thru 8K rpms.

yeah no kidding..mine will troll along under 4k but hitting 4k wide open its time to hang on and ride that iron pony trying to shoot out from under you and pull your arms off..the real power seems to kick in at 5 and pull hard till ya hit the limiter

In the higher gears it has more power in the higher rpm's, but the lower gears (1st and 2nd) just sound like the bike is about to fall apart above 4k. I'm fairly new to motorcycles (about a month and a half and a little over a 1000 miles) so I guess I'm just not used to being at high rpm's and it being ok. When I first got it and took it on the interstate for the first time, it just seemed like it needed a 6th gear for cruising speed. There have been times though when I though I was not holding on tight enough to the handlebars accelerating onto an on-ramp. This has been an excellent starter bike for me.

alot of that has to do with being used to car engines and knowing from the sound that your neering redline of about6-8k..or worse if youve been driving a diesel redlining out around 3k.....its a perception in the brain of "im getting close to the limit must shift"...once you get over that youll be allright...i still have that problem now and then..but these things rev to the moon and were MADE to do so

So an update since I first posted. Im now getting in the high 30's mpg wise. I have recently had (past 6 months) the valves adjusted, carbs synced, and new tires. Also i have started to ride a bit easier. Still havent put more than ~4.5 gallons in the tank though.

And shortlife i totally know what your talking about with the diesel engines. I used to be a truck driver and your were redlining at 2k and getting ready to shift. These bikes a built to be rev'd and to me its a blast to push it.

i drove 250miles yesterday, kept the revs under 6K and i was getting over 60mpg, and it hasnt had a engine service in a couple years now so its not proforming to its max, which is good seeing as fuel is now £1.36 a litre in the UK at the moment and is about to go up again!!!

If you put the zr-7 on the centerstand, it is possible to fill the tank to the max (5.8 gallons). I've put in 5.5 gallons several times. The bike does feel heavy when the tank is that full, though.

Hello guys. I need some help, i live and ride in nyc and my mpg is around 25. I am not a speed addict, and it looks to me like something is wrong. Any ideas what should i start with? Bike had carbs adjusted before winter.

ive driven about everything under the sun..big log loaders, trucks performance 4's italian v6s and american v8s...and even with my dirt bike history being able to push the redline way out to the moon where these bikes really start pulling is too much fun to NOT do...but i still find myself looking for 6th gear
