    New Z750S Owner Intro

    Hi,
I just wanted to introduce myself as a new Z750S owner. I've had a 94 KLR650 for about 10 years and it's like a part of my family. Rode it all over place in the Cascades of Washington. On east coast now and just looking for something different since the off-roading is very meager in SE Virginia (tidewater) so I started looking for an ST1000, which I've had before until some woman turned in front of me, sending me over her car, totaling her Honda Accord and my beloved 02 ST.

Here are the bikes I've owned. Going back all the way to High School! 78 Suzuki TC125, 82 Kawi KZ550LTD, KZ750LTD, 82 Honda 750 Sabre, Kawi ZR-7S, Versys 650 (rode an iron butt 1000 on this) , Ninja 250 (wife's), BMW F650, 05 Concours, ST1100, 95 & 94 KLR 650's, KLR250 (forgot the year but it was a kick start)

I was just searching for "Kawasaki" after giving up on a very non-responsive ST1100 'seller' and came across the Z750S. I found and bought an 05 in excellent shape with 14K miles for $2,300. I have had 3 knee replacement surgeries so I had to do something about the knee bend. I took the seat to a shop who added some additional harder padding and re-covered it - that gave me a few inches. Also installed a handlebar riser, which has helped my comfort too. The previous owner gave me his 'airhawk' butt pad which helps, too.

I bought a Givi bag Rack (just the 2 bars) and got that installed a week ago. The instructions had to be absolutely the worst instructions for anything I've ever purchased in my life - anything - not just for motorcycles. The quality of the rack was awesome - just had to re-read the instructions a few times.

Finally got them on and was able to rig the OEM Kawasaki Tail bag I had on the KLR on to the givi Rack 'bars'.

The PO had installed a fender eliminator kit which was great, but he installed the turn signals vertically up against the top of the rear fender well and mostly blocked by the license plate. I re-installed them using an "L" bracket attached to the bottom of the license plate. That took a while but it looks much better and more visible.

Only thing outstanding is to get a fix for the Foot Peg Lowers I bought for big bucks from Wild Hair Accessories. Unfortunately, the pegs make my feet sit outward and away from the shifter and brake pedal so I have to really strain to get my toes inward to even barely touch the shifter and brake pedal. It was so bad after just sitting on the bike I didn't bother test-riding.

I've removed these and reinstalled the stock pedals until I can find a shop to weld some sort of extension on the shifter and brake pedals.

Overall, I'm really loving the bike - this is the closest thing I've had to a sport bike and the acceleration is awesome.

Oh well - just wanted to say hi and introduce myself.

    Thanks !

I'll just do that as a possible winter project - I'm getting used to the knee bend so it's not that bad.

Also I plan to put an HID Xenon H7, but haven't decided whether to do hi, lo, or both . I''ll have to see if the lights go on/off/on on startup since that wouldn't be good for the ballast.

Also am going to put LED lights in the instrument panel - the stocks just aren't illuminating enough for me..

I've done some looking around to see which bulbs I need. I know there are 3, but have heard they're t3. I copied/pasted this:
    Quan 6 of BULB,T3.4,12V 1.1W
    Quan 2 of BULB,T3, 12V 0.7W

to an email to superbrightleds and they came back and said it was just a 194 size bulb.

I don't seem to see any exact bulb size from anyone who's done this before on the Z750S so I'll have to go with what superbrightled's says..

The only bad thing about owning a Z750S is the lack of owners, so there doesn't seem to be much info posted out there, but I guess that's understandable since KAwi only sold them for 2 years in the US..

I guess I'm spoiled since my old bike, the KLR650, had tons of riders, info, and videos out there, but I still love the Z !

If I had the money, I'd try to find a second Z, and spare parts love the beast...perfect mid-range highway bike, all-round transport, with moe speed than I'll ever need.

Well, I have a 06' Z750S, but everything is new to me, so I can't really help you
Currently looking for exhaust options (seems like it's a lot harder to find anything now that the bike is 10+ years old)...
