How do I remove front seat on '07 z1000? Eureka !
It took awhile but I figured it out - it's different than on previous models.
1) Remove back seat by inserting and turning key in keyhole located under rear seat on clutch side. Lift off seat.
2) Find cable "loop" found on left center of the crossbar in underseat area.
3) Pull cable loop rearward - it release front seat latch.
4) Lift off front seat.
It took me half an hour to figure all that out...so maybe I'm saving a smart new owner 5 minutes by posting this. It's probably also covered i the Owners Manual - which is located...under the front seat! (My bike is fast...I'm not!)

you will see a cable loop after you remove the rear seat pull on that loop and it will release the front seat

Hey, BB ! How's the riding in Sydney these days. I spent some time in your country many years ago - high school.
I was in Armidale,NSW. I wish I rode back then, there where some beautiful areas/roads, I spent time in the areas around Tamworth, Cessnock, Newcastle and Manilla working on ranches during the holidays. Some of the best years of my life!

Yeah, a little different. That's why I read the manual first.\
But the dealer handed me the owners manual. I wasn't even aware there was enough room under the seat to put the manual? I guess I'll have to check into that.
Poor planning on your part does not constitute a crisis on my part. Just chill and don't forget to go for a little thrill.

Since i can't post cause im new and i need to post to a thread... and this is about the z1000 seats.. lol .. i'm on the market for a new bike and i want a 07 z1000. heres the thing, is the passenger seat any comfortable?
Im just wondering cause my Gf and i want to do some 2-3h drives frequently and i need to know if it will ben comfortable for her... and since im here, is it comfortable for the driver himself?
Also, how would corbin seat increase the comfort and what would be a price to pay for a corbin seat ( driver and passenger )
Thx alot

i'm pretty much in sydney central, eastern suburbs, and traffic is horrible, but once you get out, north or south, riding is great..
just came back from the twisties through a national park down south near wollongong...

Off topic...but I'm going to have to get used to the seat, because I'm planning to ride from Ohio to Florida this summer. It should take three days. The shortest day is around 250 miles (includes the Dragon!). The longest day is closer to 500 miles and includes just busting highway through Georgia down to Daytona.
I did one 300+ mile day last summer.

250-500 mile days on a Z ? Bless you my son !!!
For those of us who want (or need) to ride long distances, I can heartily recommend the Airhawk seat cushion series. They are not cheap ($150-190), but they fit correctly, don't slip and slide, and are removeable once the ride is over. Airhawk began by making medical purpose pads (to prevent bedsores on long term hospital patients), so they take their product seriously and have years of R&D behind them.

Awesome, thanks for the recommendation. I'll look into them before my big ride. Three weeks before my ride to Florida, I'm planning to ride to Northern Michigan...you know, as a warm up for the Florida trip.

Sorry Buzzboyce, no Corbin seat for the new Z's (07 or 08). Ive contacted them several times and and the only reply I got after several attempts was to "keep checking back with the periodically." Whatever that means? Sure would like a Corbin, so I'm holding out for a while and hoping they release one. Have no idea about the comfort of the passenger seat, removed it and no one will ever ride back there. (My wife hates motorcycles, works out great for me!)
