    Powder coat with flake

I was thinking about powder coating a few parts on my bike like the rearsets. I was thinking about a gloss black with orange flake on it. What do you guys think? Or has anyone done any powder coating like this on their bikes. Oh yea and my bike is orange.

PC. I had a few flake additive attempts when I was coating. They now sell some powders with it mixed in. If you want black with orange, that will likely have to be mixed by the coater.

It's power, if you want just orange flake...Prismatic has 2 that I found in my chips.
Moondust orange UPB-4601 very fine flake..
Starburst Orange UPB-4599 very large flake
Both of these have to be coated over a black (ink black)..where as the holographic flake like city lights is a single stage shoot.
Ask your powder coater for these numbers and he will know how to get them.
    Gary

    edit..I found 2... they have 6500 colors...they probably have a lot more

    I must not fear.
    Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
    I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.

WOW! I had been buying from Eastwood. They had maybe 100 or so colors. Made it easier to pick one!

Yep that is exactly what i was talking about, that looks pretty sharp. Helped me make up my mind to go ahead with gloss block with orange flake. Will do all the pieces over spring break and then will get the pictures up to see what you guys think

400F. Had to be metal. I did ProZac's metal parts, and I think he used a semi-gloss Krylon on the plastics.

Thats what I was checking on.... the plastic stuff *can* be done, but its longevity is not so hot because of the cool cure.

Hard to take pictures of but the Starburst Orange UPB-4599 is the bottom chip.
and the Moondust orange UPB-4601 is the next one up.
No sun today..hard to make the flash do what you want. Sunlight is where they pop.
Eastwood just has the basics, and they are too $high if you do any volume.

Also just to be clear, Plastic or anything that wont conduct electricity or stand 350-400 degrees cant be powder coated. If still in doubt snap the ground on a nipple...and pull the trigger
