That's the same reason a 10R motor won't work unfortunately.

Yes, but in that thread the factor was the Head. Since he has a scrap Z1000 engine and thus a head to swap over, the question remains as to whether the rest will fit.Originally Posted by sv1000rider

I have found 4 or 5 ZX9 engines for sale on ebay but haven't had any luck with the 1000. Whats the difference between the two that is stopping me from dropping that motor in? Or for that matter any other engine of similar size?
Besides engine mounts, intake, exhaust, wiring, ecm and engine height?

Well, seeing as we are based on the 9r engine height shouldn't really be too big of a factor. The mounts could be modded fairly easily, so is the intake and exhaust and wiring my only concerns...
They're downdraft carbs, compared to our sidedraft. That's the biggest reason. Our frames aren't built for downdraft carburetion.![]()

But with that we are back to the argument of will the the z1000 head fit on the zx9 motor eliminating that issue.Originally Posted by Compstall
If you did that, what would be the point? Bottom end isn't where the power's at, and the Z1K bore is bigger.

Because he cracked his block and is looking for a replacement engine.Originally Posted by Compstall
