Has anyone read the current newstand copy of Motorcyclist ? They have a comparison between the Z750S and the Buell 9X something. That weird looking bike. Two very differnt bikes. They seem to like the Z750S, but say it's boring. I'm not sure how 100hp in a middleweight standard can be boring, but whatever.
This is what stands out. I was hoping for some definitive performance standards from a US magazine but it looks like they left part of it blank and put in the duplicate numbers from the Buell in the hp, torque a 1/4 mile figures. The only thing that looks correct is the hp figure for the Buell, it matches the graph, but I'm thining the 1/4 mile time has to be for the Buell. Amazing a major error like that from a major magazine can get to print. Do they do any proofreading?

I saw that error too. Annoying, but it happens. They were lukewarm about the Z, but they did seem to have more positive things to say about it.

Honestly though... The Buell is more of a Hooligan bike then the Z750 is. It also cost like $3K more. They won't compare it to the ZedThou because well, there isn't a comparison.

Yea I have the copy and was curious why they said the Z has a certain HP then post up different #'s in the graph.
as for riding Buell, I rode my buddie Davids XB9R and honistly it felt like a DOG in the power department. the SV650 kept pullin every gear like it was a slug on wheels. ow werll they said it wasn't made for power but made for cornering, the brakes felt alot better than the Z1000 but it is lighter too.

I just skimmed over it. They seem to like the Buell because it is a Buell even though it seems to me if you read between the lines they actually like the Z750S better. Yet they say the Z750S is not exciting. Typical motorcyclist review.

I took a demo ride on a Buell Lightning XB12S. It does have a bigger motor than the cityX does and it seemed to have plenty of power and I didn't feel the need to downshift when accelerating in top gear ap 65mph. It does have great brakes, almost too good! The one thing I had a hard time getting past was the vibration at idle. Even though it went away at any rpm above idle, I kept thinking it was missfiring.
I think it is a fun and unique bike, but not one for the "one bike owner"

Well if it's any help, the "hard numbers" section at the back of April's edition of Motorcyclist shows a Buell firebolt XB9R with a 1/4 mile time of 11.71 (corrected) at 113 mph and an XB12S lighting at 11.38 (corrected) at 117 mph.

Thanks DarrellB, I was just curious as to what the numbers to the z750 were. The only ones i found were to the EU version in
the english mag superbike, They compared it to the honda 599, fz6 and sv650 And ducati monster, and it stomped the cr@p out of those, but the english numbers are a little wack, they show 1/4 mile times but i dont think they are the same cause i am pretty sure fz6 and sv 650s run better then 13's.
