    Installing a radar detector

Hey guys, I just purchased a bel sti driver radar detector and I'm still trying to figure out where to mount it.
I want to have it resting on the dash underneath the windshield that way it has the best view up front and behind, not blocked by a bunch of things.
So I've looked up some videos on youtube and all of them worked for those guys, but unfortunately none of their bikes was a 650r and our bikes don't have the same positions that allow them to just attach a few bolts and ride off.
I currently have the idea of attaching the radar using double sided velcro resting on the tip of the dash and also onto some mounting brackets(that I'm kinda making myself). I got some 90 degree brackets that will attach to the plastic using the double sided velcro, and attach two brackets to those brackets. That way it looks like a backwards z. That way its attached to the plastic and its then bent far enough that way the radar will be completely level. I want to do it this way on the account that I don't want to drill any holes in my baby and I want it to be visible for me. (I do have the wireless motorcycle helmet piece coming too so I'll be able to see what band and when it reacts. But obviously sometimes I'll have to take the car so I want to be able to just remove and attach it in the car.
I've already hooked up a 12v inverter to the bike that has a relay that way it won't always be draining the battery.
So guys if anyone has done this before and has better ideas or finds something, please help me out =].
    Thank you guys.
p.s it is legal in my state.

I don't know much about radar detectors....but how do you hear the 'chirps'? Or do you have to depend on visual blinks?

I have thought about getting a detector as well. If and when I do I will go with RAM-mount.com type of mount. I did this for for my gerbings temp controller. If you buy the handle bar bracket and long arm then make a custom plate to hold detector. Friends have done this on there bike, (cruiser and adventure sport/tour) I thought it ended up pretty clean and nothing permanent.

ive got a passport 9500ix and ive got it mounted on the left side controls. the mount i have is similar to this https://www.escortradar.com/store/pr...cat=265&page=1 , but mine doesnt have the bungees. i put some interlocking 3m strips on the mount and under my radar detector and it sticks really well.

Well I just finished attaching it to the motorcycle, I hardwired a phone cord to the battery.
So now it's all finished and I'm good to go. I have the 12v adapter attached to the battery with a relay to turn it off an on... and I also have a hard wire phone cord attached. So now I don't need the 12v adapter but I will keep it just incase.
I'll take some pictures and upload. I don't necessarily like how it looks but on the same side, it was a cheap DIY. I'll most likely wait til I have some bettery ideas to attach it on the account that I am worried that it will fall off at some point, even though when I pull it off the velcro its pretty difficult lol.

    Question though,
will my motorcycle battery die because of the hardwire being attached to the battery? I won't have the radar plugged in all the time but I'm sure it draws power right? How long do I have until my battery dies? Should I hard wire it to something else instead?
