    A bit more information please.

ANY vehicle can use a "cruise control" that mechanically operates or locks the stock throttle actuator; in the case of a bike, that would be the twistgrip throttle.

Come on ER, you know me better than that! I'm talking about factory electronic cruise available as standard on the Voyager and Vaquero. Why can't Kawi put this on the Concours?

My understanding is it has to do with some form of liability issue. Kawasaki has never explained what the issue is exactly. There are a couple of aftermarket electronic cruise controls that will work on it. The Rostra, in particular, seems fairly easy to adapt.

I am familiar with all of the aftermarket options. Just wondering if anyone had a good explanation as to why the Vaquero can have cruise but not the Concours.

    HbK,

If you look at this again, can you say why the Concours and Vulcan carry a standard 3-year warranty, but the ZX-14, for example, only has a 1-year? Is that based on Kawi's expectation of who buys these bikes and how they expect them to be used, or build quality differences? (Surely not!?!?). Why couldn't a ZX-14 have a 3-year warranty?

Because they need the warranty on those bikes to help them sell. The import cruiser market died around 5 years ago...and they are doing anything they can to sell them! That...and the Vulcan motors are tuned for long life and mild performance. The C14...not so much. It's still a ZX14 at heart!

The Voyager XII even had a cruise control.

I wonder if there is a reported history of rider issues with the cruise control.

I don't know, but I know I don't want any bike that doesn't have electronic cruise. I ride with it on all the time, even through town.

They are not the same. The Voyager throttle cables go to an actuator that then moves the Voyager throttle settings. When under cruise the throttle grip does not move, but you can still accelerate by grabbing more throttle or shut it off by closing the throttle All the way.

There is no reason why the factory can't put cruise on the Concours the way it sits unless laws have changed. The 1987 Voyager XII has electronic cruise control that works rather nicely. The difference is that heavy throttle to climb a hill can be felt under our right hand so you need a light grip.

You can look up the Vulcan Voyager information for more detail.

If you go for the new Connie from sportcycles, get the McCruise out of AU. It is plug and play. A grand, but with the deal on the new bike, it would be worth it.

Of course we are getting news of 2016 bikes trickling in, so you may want to wait, but don't hold your breath.

Brought this over from the other thread.

Are you considering a Harley for it's cruise control? (I'm suspecting it has one)

Please don't if that is the magnet. I'll be wandering once my house gets to closing since I cannot find what I want. That being the situation, count on me for some help installing a cc to the Concours you acquire - if wanted/needed. Like TWA alluded to, new C14's are being blown-out at incredible prices. My Rostra has been installed over two years now and for under $300.

Ha-ha. Thanks for the help. No, that's not the reason. I'll put it this way; in a reversal of typical parental desire, I'm hoping for a girl, but the wife wants it to be a boy.

Yes, I am looking at two Connies right now:

The first is a new, black 2013 for $11.1
The second is a used, black 2012 for $10.6 with 4950 miles and many extras including a Rostra already installed.

I paid $13,800 for my '12 in February of 2012 - new from the Clarksville, TN dealer. Sort of at the peak for the model year. It's over three years now and worth about maybe $8k. New, left over models are killer deals.
